I'm always worried I'm going to cut the nail too close. I got this because it made it a lot easier to trim and then grind the nails to the appropriate size without causing any damage.

This is probably the most powerful grinder I have tried, and i I had a Mastiff or Rottie or Pit Bull, it would undoubtedly be the most essential tool in the grooming kit. It is well made, a bit heavier than my comfort level can tolerate. On a large dog, though, that weight and bulk will do the work for you, all you have to do is touch it to the nail and it's done. But I have very small dogs, a Pom, and a couple Chihuahuas, and a whole bunch of Pomchis. This would take a lot of practice and a strong hand to have the control necessary or that, and not take too much too quickly. I wish they made it in smaller size, it would definitely be on my list o MUST HAVEs. The clipper is also for big dogs, I almost accidentally got TWO of Mini Pearl's toes in it, and that might not have turned out well. I can't use them for my kids, but I do know that if you are a groomer or do your own trimming and grinding for your big babies, you will be gld you got these! Sadly, I'm still looking for the perfect set for this household. Still, an A+ from me! The three stars for easy to use, are specific to ME and MY dogs, not the quality or stability of the grinder or trimmer! You'll love that grinder on a big dog, for sure!

All of my dogs are big babies when its time to trim their nails. I got this trimmer because I hated taking them to the groomer and hearing them screaming and crying. It is lightweight and not loud at all. Now the clippers can go. I had to pull out my old clippers to cut their nails. It just wasnt sharp enough. The grinder is 5 stars. Keep in mind that 2 of my 3 dogs have all black nails. I was able to grind all of their nails down to a comfortable length on one charge and it was still running strong.
