These large pieces of Ginger are dried to the point of being extremely hard. They have hardly any scent in the plastic jar, and even after rehydrating in hot water, they have barely any aroma or flavor. I've had other dried gingers, that I very much enjoyed, so I'm not really sure what went wrong with this one, but it's definitely a no for me. Would not re-purchase or recommend.

This whole dried ginger is convenient to keep in my pantry and easy to toss a couple into a batch of soup for flavoring. I always pick out or strain out the ginger before serving, so its actually more convenient that the pieces of ginger are large and easy to spot in my pots of soup. I usually use fresh ginger, but the dried ginger seems to work just as well and its more convenient since I can have it in my pantry at all times without worrying about it spoiling or going bad. I also like to drink ginger tea when Im feeling under the weather, and these would work well for that purpose too. Ive been using fresh ginger for tea as well, but it usually requires my husband to run to the store since we dont always have fresh ginger on hand! Ive only used this dried ginger for flavoring, so I cant speak to the texture if you try to rehydrate or consume these. It works well for flavoring purposes though, and I toss the ginger root before serving or consuming. This is a decent price for a large quantity of fresh ginger that comes in a reusable plastic container. Good to have in the pantry for times when youre making soup or tea and fresh ginger isnt available.

We use ginger often for teas and even just on itself. This ginger did not appear to be too fresh and didn't have much of a smell to it. The ginger also did not taste much like anything, so when we used it for teas, it didn't bring out any flavors. The ginger is easy to store and cheap, however.

I've been happy with other imported foods from Eastanbul; when I wanted to make a recipe calling for ginger I decided to give this dried ginger a shot. It's pretty good if you don't absolutely need fresher ginger. We've been shaving it with a microplane and adding some to nearly everything we cook where it wouldn't be, you know, offensive. It's worked great so far and unlike fresh ginger doesn't need to be frozen or refrigerated.

I'm not sure why I hadn't considered dried ginger roots before, but I'm glad it was suggested to me. I don't frequently use ginger, but when the need arises, it's primarily for my tea or when a family member falls ill. Unlike most items that tend to age if kept for a while, the dried ginger root remains fresh. I appreciate that it comes in a container with an easy-to-open lid. I also like the fact that I don't have to use the entire root at once; I can easily break off a piece according to my preference. The taste is just as authentic as if it were fresh, not dried.
