Wow! I am so impressed with this embroidery stitch practice kit. I have not tried to embroider since I was a small child . My mom had given me a simple beginner kit many years ago . I have a Amish family next door and their two kids 7 and 10 come to visit me . The am going to ask their mom if its ok to embroider with the kids when they come up for a visit . It just seems like a nice way to spend some quality time with them. Everything is included in this kit. Three individually wrapped and organized kits complete with embroidery material with a well printed design , I had expected the actual material prints to be quite small, but they are a good size. The hoop seems like a standard size too. Not really small. There is only one hoop in the kit but Ill gather up another so we can work on these samplers together. It looks like plenty of thread , needles, small scissors, a seam ripper, needle threader . The instructions for the stitches look clear and easy to follow. I think both an adult and child would enjoy this kit!

I was really excited about this kit when I first ordered. I've been trying to teach myself handicrafts this year. I made good progress at crochet and felt like I could fairly easily do this kit, especially since it came with all of the supplies I would need. But I will say that I don't have a lot of practical experience with sewing, beyond weaving in tails on crochet projects. Each pattern comes with the stenciled cloth and 6 colors of thread. You get one wooden hoop, a pack of small metal needles, a needle threader (with flower handle), a small pair of dull scissors, and a seam ripper. My first issue came with trying to thread the needle. I went with the largest needle because the thread seemed pretty thick. This instructions said that the thread could be split (but did not instruct you to split the thread when starting). I had a hell of a time trying to thread this cheap, thick thread into the tiny needle eye (even though it was the largest needle provided). While trying to thread the needle the third time, the needle threader completely broke see picture). The metal piece pulled out of the flower and I could not get it back in. I was able (barely) to thread the needle 2 times while holding the metal threader piece, but it was extremely difficult and I gave up after that. I had a lot of issues with the yarn catching on itself on the backside of the cloth, but a lot of that is probably inexperience. However, it also got caught on the white threads of the cloth. You can see in one of my photos the white fiber stuck in my green thread. There was one section where my thread got hopelessly stuck together on the back and I decided to just rip it out and try again...the container for the seam ripper would not open at all, it's completely sealed together. I had to use the dull mini scissors to cut it out. The thickness of the threads was one of my biggest irritants. Threads easily got stuck on each other, since the thread was too thick for the holes that the needle made in the cloth. Threads pulled apart and made loops look hideous - all of the Chrysanthemum stitches looked terrible, even though it is a pretty easy stitch to do. The instructions were a mess. It did give pictures, which were its only saving grace, though they looked like they were taken 40 years ago. The written instructions were obviously translated using a translation app, they barely made sense. The stitches were also all over the page, rather than logically placed in the same spot as the stencil (I know this is a pretty gripe). I could forgive the badly translated instructions if this was for a more detailed work for intermediate crafters. But this is marketed to complete beginners to embroidery, as you are literally stitching all of the basic types of stitches. Clear instructions on how to do them (or even a link to video tutorials) is a very basic requirement. I may come back to embroidery eventually, but I'm not even going to finish this kit. It's not worth my time, money, or sanity.

I used to do cross stich when I was very young and always wanted to try embroidery. I'm glad I grabbed this kit because it seems like other kits I've heard of have a lot of horror stories! This had everything I needed to get started right away. The sets were each individually packaged and had more than enough strands to make the sample and then extra in case you made mistakes or wanted to expand any of the designs. Nothing was tangled or damaged. The instructions even do a good job explaining that you need to separate the strands out and not use them directly from the pack. My only complaint is that I had to look up nearly half (maybe even more) of the stiches to get a feel on how to do them. The instructions really aren't that clear and are hard to understand, especially on the more complicated stitches (as a beginner, at least). The names of the stitches aren't exactly always the "official" names either so on one occasion I had use the pictures and guess at the right stitch to do because I couldn't find a match for the name online. I will say that once I understood what the instructions were asking, I really didn't need to look them up online again and could use the pictures included as a guide. Remember though that all of this is coming from someone brand new to embroidery. Overall I still really recommend this pack, but just be prepared that you might need a bit of extra online instruction if you're new. I've finished all three sample pieces and have already picked up another full project to start. I'm hooked!

Had my doubts about this kit but it's way nicer and more descriptive than I was thinking it would be. Actually comes with several pages of instructions and lots of information on how to create the stitches. Does only have one hoop so you can only have one project going at a time. Each practice piece has a little bit of extra space around each stitch so I sometimes practice again if I want to get it right. At first I thought this wasn't really enough of each stitch to make an impact, but actually it seems like if I use it as a reference guide and look at the stitch, I can remember doing it the first time which helps me get started again. I really like this kit and would recommend it for anyone looking to get into embroidery and slow stitching!
