Fat Brain Toys Hey Clay Eco Cars - Clay Kit with Interactive App, Kids & Tweens...

I saw this Hey Clay kit when I was searching up air dry clay. I had gotten an air dry clay set before, but it was only one color, so when I saw this I thought it would be great. I didn't know much about air dry clay before this, but apparently the clay dries in about a day into what feels like a spongy foam rather than a true hardened piece of kiln-dried clay. Since it's for kids, I'm pretty satisfied with that. When you open the kit, all the colors are arranged in separate tubs in the box. I thought it was a cute touch that some of them have silly faces on the clay when you open the lid. It seems like they took some time to make this really cute and attractive for kids so I appreciate the effort. What I liked about this set is that is has an app that you download and offers step-by-step instructions to young kids on how to make the figures. I didn't realize that's what it would do, but when I saw it I thought they were really well done and easy to follow. If you have a more creative or older child, they could probably just look at the picture and replicate it without the instructions, but for a younger one it's a great learning tool. The only thing I didn't like is that I didn't realize it wouldn't give you all of the figures. I guess they have to make money somehow, but you do have to purchase the rest if you want to make all of the figures. The app does show you all of the figures for all the sets, so it definitely is a good marketing tool to either make you buy other sets or to see if you can fashion some of the figures on your own with what you have. This is the Eco Car kit, which unfortunately isn't as extensive as the other Hey Clay Kits. The only perk is that it comes with some small wheel sets to make the cars, but other than that, there's not a ton of variation here. If your kid really likes cars, I guess you can improvise and use the set as a base to jazz up your cars, but if you're making them as presented, they are a little boring. I would probably choose the other Hey Clay sets over this one, especially as the price difference is not too far off.

This is a neat idea for a car kit and it's a lot of fun putting together to clay to make a unique model. My boys are a bit too young to do it themselves so I did the work and had them help direct it. After they dry the cars were able to be pushed around and played with but they are still pretty fragile. I like that it really opened up some imagination and curiosity and we are having fun playing with it and you can make multiple cars with included material. It would be nice if they were a little bit more durable but overall a neat toy that's not like many others.

These sets are incredible! You download the app and choose which figures your going to create. It offers a step-by-step interactive experience for the kids. My son was so proud of his creations. This offers fun for hours. The clays dry up nicely and stay vibrant. I can't wait to collect all of the hey clay sets.

Excellent learning toy for toddlers. Works well for kids and tweens as well. Soft multiple clay to make up your own car design. Work well and fun to play with

We normally LOVE things from Fat Brain Toys! But I'm a little disappointed in these. You can download an app for instructions, or just let your kids go to town and be creative themselves. But like a previous reviewer mentioned, the wheels don't turn like you'd expect. Has the potential to be more fun!
