I almost did not buy this because of a few negative reviews. I don't know how long it will last, because I just installed, but as of now, I am beyond happy. I love my chair, but it would not hold my fat butt. :) I was just about to buy a new one (and this one is not that old), when I found out about this. It has save me a lot of money. The sleeves were easy to install and they had grooves to fit the metal ring clamps. The provided screwdriver worked well on the clamps. I only needed 3 sleeves, so I have 2 more for down the road. Hopefully I want need them as it says will handle 1000 lbs and while I am heavy, not even close to that. So in conclusion, I am very glad I purchased these.

First of all, this product could be easily replicated by anyone with the right diameter PVC pipe, a saw, and the right clamps. But this is a very attractive option with nicer fitting plastic bits, all for not very much money. Does it work? Yes. Very well. I highly recommend this (or similar) to save money on replacing otherwise good office chairs. Or keep this idea to yourself, and take home great chairs that your office is disposing of because the cylinders are bad. :) Edit: Based on other reviews, I do want to add that there's a reason this set comes with 5 plastic risers and 10 clamps. The compressive strength of the plastic is more than adequate but it has to be kept from buckling. That means using TWO clamps for each riser. I mean there are two specifically designed channels in each riser to keep them in place. Seem like it should be obvious but it isn't, I guess?
