Got this to connect my mirrorless FX30 camera to my on-camera monitor. I tried a couple of regular braided-type short cables, but they were a little too short and they were stiff and unwieldy - hard to bend into tighter radiused turns and tended to put more stress on the connections than I was comfortable with. This cable solves all those problems - because it's fiberoptic, it's a smaller diameter; the length (3.3 feet) is long enough to reach where I have the monitor mounted; and the cable is soft, flexible and easy to work with. My only complaint is that the "Display" and "Source" labels printed on the ends (because it's fiberoptic, the signal can only go in one direction) are a light gray that is barely readable against the brushed silver ends. If I'm in the middle of setting up equipment for a gig, it's much better if I can see at a glance which end is which. I worked around that with my P-touch labeler (see photos), so am ready for the next shoot. Recommended.

The ends do plug snuggly into the HDMI ports. This would be about all that could be reviewed regarding a cable, but this cable is a fiber optic cable, which means it uses light to send the signal the length of the cable. Fiber optic cables can run much longer distances without the same problems as electrical cables. This means you can have your display in one room, and the source electronics in another room for whatever reason (security, climate controlled, aesthetics, etc.). It used to be that display cables were limited to much shorter distances. It is finally nice to have fiber optic cables at a reasonable price. For example, Samsung has a fiber optic cable that is proprietary and costs $300. Pay attention to the Source and Display ends of the cable. This is important because each end has a directional controller chip that processes the signals and a SerDes chip to send the signal down the cable. In this case there is also photo electric chips that convert electric signals to and from light signals. It's pretty amazing how much electronics are just in the connectors of each of these cables. This is being used on a 4K display, so only time will tell if the 8K and 16K capabilities are real, however 4K@240Hz working should give some confidence that 16K@60Hz will also work. Most people, even if using with 4K, won't notice a significant difference, but might for higher-end gaming. The real purpose is to future-proof the tech. It is more flexible than regular copper wiring, but unlike standard copper wiring, it is unidirectional. I'm pleased with it, but understand what it is and what it isn't.

And it is short circuit resistant when compared to copper.
