I do a lot of cutting in my sewing business, and though it took me a while to try this alternative to scissors, I'm glad I did. Cutting with the roller is easy, and saves a lot of time. Good buy.

This is a bang-up set of tools for crafters, especially those who work with paper. I just started quilling, and when you cut the strips of paper, you need to have as perfect an edge as possible. These Fiskars tools are SHARP (definitely not for kids to use) and the rotary tool allows me to cut super thin strips with ease or make tiny cleanup cuts. I use a big paper slicer too, but when using stencils or free handing, the rotary cutter and craft knife from this set are perfect. The scissors are scissors - sharp, cut easily, handle is generic and not the most comfortable or ergonomic I've used or owned. They have a nice heft so you don't feel like you're going to break the scissors by cutting a stack of three piece of paper. You get what you pay for here. I've been using the rotary tool for several months and it's still sharp as heck. I've had to sharpen the scissors a couple of times, but I use them in the kitchen almost every day. The blade on the craft knife can be replaced when it dulls. I will break this review into three sections: one for each item in this set. Knife: I really haven't spent much time with it, but it is pretty much the same as other exacto knives I've used. The blade is sharp, allowing you to get the detail you need, and the handle is standard. I do prefer ones that have more of a comfort grip, but this is still a good one that feels durable. Scissors: I probably have at least five pair of Fiskar scissors around the house. They make good scissors, and these are no exception. These are just your basic scissors, so they are not as durable as their titanium scissors, but good enough for basic crafts and sewing. Rotary cutter: This is where the set is definitely worth it. A good rotary cutter by itself typically costs as much as this set (currently $20). There are basically two types of rotary cutters: straight (the one in the set) and curved. I've always used the curved ones, but the one in this set has quickly become my go-to cutter as it allows for better control and pressure. It easily cuts through layers of fabrics for quilting or making clothes. I was impressed with how easily it cut through knit fabric, which often gave me problems with my other cutter. I was able to easily cut out my pattern and sew my project. If you are just starting to sew or craft and are looking for a cutting set, this is an excellent one, even for advanced crafters/sewers. It gives you everything you need to cut your project and get to work.

My wife is the sewer in the family (probably not a huge surprise there) and she reports that these blades are nice and sharp and cut through the fabric for her project like it wasn't even there... mostly. The cutting wheel is a little different than the old one this was replacing and trades a bit of convenience for safety. Specifically, the plastic part of the neck comes up higher and sticks out wider than the old model and that means you have to hold the wheel more vertically. While this reduces the "danger area" and makes things a bit safer, it also forces you to hold the wheel at an angle that may not be ideal. My wife is less bothered by this than my daughter was, who couldn't stand it and said she'd rather use the old, duller one that she could hold more sideways. Note also that the retractable guard is also harder to disengage on this new model than on the old one which is good if you have young kids that may get into your stuff, but I imagine it would probably be bad if you have arthritis or other similar issues. If safety is a concern, the changes on this cutting wheel will be welcome, but for everyone else, I think the older style was better and easier to use. No comments on the other cutting tools other than to say that they are also very sharp and worked very, VERY well.
