The instructions might as well be non existent. The kit includes a thicker thermal pad as well as the two for under the heatsink this pad is to thermal couple the heat exchanger pipe via the cover over the nvme drive in the steam deck. Removal of a small.square of thermal insulation from under the heat shield cover and placement of the thicker included thermal pad made all the difference in the world with nvme thermals on my steamdeck.

It's a heatsink, I put it on the 2tb 2230 I have in my ROG Ally. It didn't fall off.

There have been a lot of studies and tests on these heat sinks for the rog Ally and steam deck. So far there's no real proof that these work. But it looks better than an exposed ssd. I have not noticed any performance gains so can't give this 5 stars.

I got this for my ROG Ally because I upgraded the SSD to a 2tb drive, which produces more heat than the standard 512gb. The installation is pretty straight forward and it comes with all the tools required to open the Ally. The thin pad can be very difficult to place properly without tearing. Fortunately, it comes with two sets of thermal pads. I havent' noticed a huge reduction in heat, but I also haven't noticed an increase after replacing the drive either, which is what I expected. So, I can only assume that this is doing what it is meant to do. There may be options that do a more effective job of cooling the SSD, but this is super simple and no modifications are necessary.
