For those who don't know, when you focus your lens, the elements move forward or backward, and to achieve infinity focus (the point at which everything further away is in focus to "infinity") your lens needs to be close to your camera's sensor. Conversly, for close-up focus, your lens needs to be extended which is the reason for accessories like extension tubes. Long story short, the "flange focal distance" for cameras varies, and for Canon SLRs is pretty short, so you can adapt many brands of lenses, including Nikon F, and Olympus OM, and still get the full focus range from close-up to infinity. Unforuntately, Minolta SLRs had a shorter flange focal distance than even Canon EOS, so any adapter for Minolta MD lenses becomes a close-up device--an extension tube. The only way around this is to use an adpater with a built-in negative lens. The problem with these adapters is that this additional lens really does not belong in the light path, and 99.9% of the time results in poor image quality. So that's why this adapter, a simple tube, doesn't focus to infinity--there isn't room for it between the back of the Minolta lens and the front of the Canon camera. But I ran into a different problem. My 50/1.7 Rokkor lens would mount on the adpater, but the 50mm/1.4 Rokkor wouldn't even attach. I also had some difficulty removing the adapter from my Canon 5D4, so even if you understand all the above and don't object to being limited to close focusing, I still can't reccomend this adapter.

The adapter works as advertised. I have an old SRT100 & was debating selling it or using the lenses on an EF-S camera. For a few bucks this seemed a worthwhile experiment. I'm now leaning towards selling the SRT100 kit. The MC Rokkor lenses just don't offer much advantage. 40-yr.-old lenses are like that.

Pretty much worthless except for macro shooting. Will not let you focus on anything more than 12 INCHES away. Maybe it will be useful for something

Do a quick search of "Adapating Minolta MC/MD to Canon EOS". It's basically a fool's errand because of the difference in flange distance makes most focusing impossible. Don't waste your money.
