This is a milder version of cinnamon and it's easy to tell. It smells like cinnamon, but slightly different and not as strong. It still smells wonderful, though. It looks just like cinnamon in color and texture. It seems good quality and fresh. I will be using it in the fall for making cider and crafts. This package comes with a good amount of sticks so there will definitely be enough. These are a great substitute for often overpriced whole cinnamon sticks.

Canela is Ceylon cinnamon compared to the more common cassia cinnamon. The flavor is much more milder. The bark is also softer than that of cassia cinnamon. It does wonderful in spice blends or for things where a more gentle cinnamon touch is needed. Don't be confused, this is indeed a true cinnamon from the same family, but just a different variety.

I got these to add into little potpourri packets for the holidays. I combine cinnamon sticks, dried oranges, dried apples, pine boughs and spices into a pot of boiling water around the holidays to create a cozy Christmas oasis. These cinnamon sticks worked perfect for that. The bag is packed full and the cinnamon sticks feel like they are high quality. I haven't tasted them but I am sure they'd be perfect for Asian and Indian cuisines. Overall, great little pack of cinnamon sticks at a good price ($8 at the time of this review).

I have been using cinnamon sticks and powder all over my house to combat the bad odor, for my plants, to fight the fungus gnats, and as a mosquito repellant. These cinnamon sticks come in a resealable pouch, and appear to be a wonderful quality product. I grind them to be used in sprays or to sprinkle on the plant's soil. work like a charm. I prefer to keep a few cinnamon sticks in my fruit basket too that smells great plus no fruit flies. I love this pack of cinnamon sticks. Highly recommend.
