The media could not be loaded. Gateron Baby Kangaroos have become my favorite tactile switch. The well-defined tactile bump is right at the top of the keystroke. These switches have a very poppy, springy feel. They sound a bit louder than a Gateron red, about the same as a brown. The sound profile is fairly poppy but smooth, with no noticeable scratchiness. The quality is on-par with the Gateron G Pro 3.0 series. I like the curved light diffuser and clear upper housing. I personally like 5-pin switches for the added stability. Stem wobble on these is pretty minimal for a non-box stem. I had no quality issues in the set I received. In the video, I compare these Baby Kangaroos to Gateron G Pro browns and Gateron G Pro reds. Would recommend these switches to anyone looking for a lively, tactile typing experience.

The switches are smooth and nicely tactile, similar to holy pandas in terms of the tactility but a bit more rounded with the bump taking more of the travel and feeling a bit heavier to hold down but not press through. The switch is long pole so has that longpole feel and sound on the bottom out, and talking about the sound, it is loud and clacky with a higher pitch although not sibilant or too high pitched. The sound is a more solid high pitch sound that on my foamless Mode Envoy sounds quite good. Sadly, the switch does have some leaf ping so if you listen very closely you can discern it but most of the noise is covered up by the loud higher pitched clack of the switch and leaf ping and tactiles go hand in hand. Quite a lot of tactile switches suffer from ping, and it is simply the way of life when using tactile switches.

Packaging leaves something to be desired. I would've liked to see better protection for the switch pins. Regardless, all switches seem to work. These are linear and have a nice sound and feel to them. I usually prefer tactile switches, but I put these on my GMMK Pro for the arrow and home, end, etc. keys. The claimed operating force is 59g, which feels about right. I typically like bit more resistance for most applications, and around 60g is the sweet spot for me, so these are perfect. You can tell these are pre-lubed, as they don't sound or feel scratchy. These are similar to Gateron Black switches I've used in the past, but better. Would recommend.

The Gateron Baby Kangaroos are one of the nicest tactile switches out there. The bump on these switches is rounded but very pronounced at the same time, and they have a mid-deep sound signature on my board which is very nice to hear. The switches come prelubricated very nicely making them a good option for those who do not like to hand lube their own switches, though I still kind of prefer the sound of these switches with a little bit of extra lube added on to them. Overall, I think these are by far one of the best tactile switches out there in terms of sound and feel so if you're trying to find the perfect switch for you, you should absolutely try these out.

The Gateron Baby Kangaroo v2 is a tactile switch, one with a very deliberate bump early in the downstroke. Here are a couple relevant specs: Operating force: 59gf Bottom out force: 50gf Total travel: 3.4 mm The 59gf operating force is higher than the popular Cherry MX Brown tactile switch that has a 46gf activation. The Baby Kangaroo's tactile bump is much more pronounced and it bottoms out quicker thanks to its longer stem pole. The bottom out force is lighter than what it takes to trigger the tactility so it bottoms out relatively easily in comparison. Which tactile experience one prefers is totally up to personal preference. These are the new v2 of the Baby Kangaroos. I have the original version on hand as well. The v2's have thicker pins and a frosted diffuser on the top housing enabling IMO a nicer RGB experience the keyboard has one. Similar to the originals this newer version comes lubed from the factory. I inspected a handful of the switches and noted a consistent lube application that doesn't get into the leaf to mess with the switch's tactility. In practice, the v2's are just slightly more difficult to insert into a hotswap PCB because of the larger pins but they also have much less likelihood of bending. I do fear that they "stress" hotswap sockets more than regular pins but I don't have empirical evidence to back that up. When inserting the new Baby Kangaroos and any switches for that mater I always recommend supporting the socket from the back to ensure that these stiffer pins don't wind up lifting hotswap sockets off the underside of the PCB. The Baby Kangaroo v2 sounds the same to my ears and feels the same as the originals, which makes sense since they are effectively the same switch from the typing point of view. As long as I don't use RGB the two switches can be used interchangeably in a keyboard. With RGB turned on it should be easy to tell them apart given the resulting difference in light diffusion. Unfortunately I don't have a RGB keyboard on hand to demonstrate this any longer but I had experimented with the Gateron G Pro Yellow v2 vs v3 on a RGB board. Those two switches had the same update to top housing and it was obvious which was which once the RGB was turned on. A bit more on the sound. The long pole stem and early bottom out combined with the polycarbonate top housing material makes this a very loud tactile switch. It is also higher on the pitch scale rather than lower though how these switches sound will differ greatly depending on which type of plate material is used and whether any keyboard foams are used as well. I recommend trying this switch in both clacks and thoccy builds. Overall the Baby Kangaroo v2 might just be a tactile lover's dream. It may be overly tactile for those looking for more subtle tactility. I'm a member of the linear switch gang so I prefer the heavy linear typing experience to the tactile one, which means I can only stand the Baby Kangaroo's style of tactility for short stints. Even so, I'm giving the Baby Kangaroo v2 5 stars. It is a serious tactile switch that improves on the design of the original version and sounds good in the clacky build I installed them into. It is a switch that I can easily recommend for tactile lovers to try.
