Absolutely love this leather edge roller, it is nice and heavy. I used to hammer my glued edges but now I roll them and it does a great job at seating the leather without leaving any marks on the leather. The handle is nice and smooth and the roller also has a really good finish so I have no concerns about damage to my leather finish. Overall, this is a great tool that every leather crafter needs to have.

This roller is not of very good quality. The handle is made of rough unfinished wood. The two ridges across the center dig into my fingers when I use the roller. Since the handle is unfinished, the ridges have sharp edges which are uncomfortable - see photographs. I used this roller yesterday when I was sticking two layers of leather together to make a lined bag. Luckily I rolled it on the side of the lining because the roller left a line mark on the leather when I rolled it. The edge of the roller is not blunt and digs into the leather. (See photograph) The deep ridge is a flaw in the leather, the lighter, blue-circled ones are from the roller. I used the roller on a different piece of leather as the lines would not photograph clearly on my lined leather. If I use the roller very lightly, the lines might be avoided, but it would not do the job it is supposed to do - press two layers of leather firmly together and remove any air bubbles and wrinkles. The roller also squeaks, caused by too much of play between the roller and the shaft it is mounted on. As it is, I will finish the handle and stain and polish it so that it is comfortable to use. I will also smoothen the edges of the roller until they no longer leave a mark. The squeaking due to the mismatch of the diameter of the shaft and inner diameter of the roller i cannot do anything about but I can ignore the sound. I gave this 3-stars because the roller is heavy as needed, and it rolls smoothly and evenly, in spite of the squeaking. Other than the line created, it does what it supposed to do. The golden color makes it easy to spot among all my other steel colored instruments. With a little extra effort, this roller could have been a good product.
