My five-year-old granddaughter took immediately to this game. Perhaps chanting the theme song from Jaws whenever the shark bit off a limb added to the drama, but she cracked up laughing each time. Her babysitter told me she often doesnt finish games, but she not only finished Get Bit, but she insisted that we play the optional variation that is included. The game is good for reinforcing the concept of less than, as the card with the lowest value moves to the front of the line each time. It is also valuable in providing young children with practice in following game rules, turn taking, and good sportsmanship.

Get Bit is more of a family game night game than a "party game", with fun colorful graphics and adorable playing pieces. That said, it's a lot of fun for families with kids as young as 5 or so, with some rule and gameplay variations that simplify things. It's a fairly straightforward "bluffing" game (Campy Creatures is a favorite of ours in this style), and it can get pretty fun when everyone is invested. Then there is the added bonus of some cute toys for bathtub play. The rules are fairly easy to learn and explain, and the game materials are nice quality, especially the plastic parts. The look will definitely appeal more to younger players but don't let that scare you, it's a fun game for the whole family!

I thought this game might be fun to play with adults but I can't get an adult to play it with me. My 3 and 5 year old grandkids wanted to play it over and over again. The swimmers are sturdy and go back together well at the end of each game. We didn't follow the rules exactly for the grandkids as they would have been too difficult. We just flipped a card at random.

I first played this game many years ago. My brother bought it for his kids, and we played with my kids when we visited. At the time, all the kids were in the range of 6-9 years old. The game was a hit, not only with the kids, but I appreciated that there was actually some strategy involved in the choices you make. Sadly, the game went out of print before I could get my own copy, so I was excited to see Greater Than Games has brought it back into print. The game is still great, but I don't love this edition as much as the previous one. The artwork is VERY cutesy, so much so that I fear adults or older kids (who should still enjoy playing it) would be turned off by the childish art style. The previous edition also had a better design for the divers. During the game, whenever your diver gets bit, they lose an arm or a leg. In the previous edition, the divers looked a little blocky, like Lego people. As a result, it was really clear how the arms and legs were meant to snap off and on. In this new edition, the joints are less visible, and it requires more force to snap the pieces off and on. Even though I think the previous edition had some advantages, it's still great to have this game back in print. It's a great choice for families with kids about 6-10 years old. The kids will enjoy it, and the adults will find it more fun than most kids' games.

This game is very high quality. The pieces and cards are well made and the whole set fits in a compact box which I appreciate. It would be very easy to travel with! The game play takes some getting used to. There are several variations of the game but I found it challenging to play with two players. I played a few rounds with my 10 year old before I got the rules and hang of it. I then played a few rounds with my husband to test it further. My issue with the game is that it isn't great for 2 players although it can be played as such. But doing so requires that the two players each play two scuba divers which changes the strategy in a strange way. Also, the variation of the game that involves the shark cards requires at least 3 players but ideally more as well. If you're planning to get this game for 3+ players I highly recommend. I don't think it is worth it if it will be primarily played by just two people. However! It is a very high quality game with complex strategy. The age rating is accurate. It travels and stores compactly and the pieces are all excellent quality. Instructions are very thorough and clear. I really liked it, can't wait to try playing with more than 2 players!
