Sturdy enough for a 50 lb. dog and I trust this leash...

I use this cotton lead when I take my dog on outings. It allows me to obey common leash regulations yet gives her plenty of space to explore. It also allows me to train her on recall. Its washable and easier on the hands than the nylon leads typically found in stores.

This is great for long line leash training. Easy to grip and doesn't roughen up your hands much at all (in the event a cat or deer is spotted running). It's great for daily walks for my dogs. They have a decent sized yard, but they deserve more enrichment, so I take them on walks in less populated areas with this leash. It holds up great. I attach to their collars, and it sometimes gets caught under their tails. If you attach to a back clipping harness this would be better avoided. When I first pursued a long line leash I went to two different pet stores and a Walmart looking for it before ordering on here. Why aren't these sold in stores?

As others have stated, it's a little narrow - I wish it were 1" wide, but the description clearly says that it's 5/8th in wide. The real reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because I took my puppy to the beach with this leash. I wanted a longer leash so that she could play in the ocean but still be tethered to me - and in that sense, it worked great (besides all the tangling that happened around me & her - but I expected that with any kind of long leash). What didn't work, however, is when I tried to take the leash off. And maybe this is a design flaw with all leashes... but the sand got all over in the spring/hinge where you connect the leash to the collar/harness. I couldn't pull the clasp down, even after washing with lots of water. My friend and I both tried with quite some force, but because the knob is pretty small, it's hard to do. I gave up eventually and let my puppy play some more. As we were leaving, I washed it in a lot of water again, and got the clasp down just barely enough to unhook the leash from her harness. But now the clasp is basically stuck in that barely open position. So I owned the leash for 3 days and got to use it once. Not the best, at least at the beach.
