My wife bought me this 3 years ago, I finally harvested a deer and was excited to finally try this scale out, I put thr batteries in it, turned it on and the screen just starts clitching, will not display #s just reads all 8888 across the screen, don't waste your money on this garbage scale, spend a little more and get a quality one, my fault for not putting the batteries in it and testing it when it first arrived, now I have a $20 paperweight.

I needed two of these, so I thought I'd share what I found out. First, I calibrated the scales using a carefully weighted bucket of water (20kg). I discovered that the scales were already calibrated well. Then I weighed myself on my bathroom scale and compared it to each of the two hanging scales. All three were within 0.4 lbs. So I concluded that the scales are accurate enough for my use, certainly. When I read some comments before buying, I was under the impression there was a function that showed the max weight, but this is not the case. The way I thought this function would work would be that the displayed weight would keep increasing as weight was added, and not go down until you hit a reset. But that function does not exist on this product. There is a "LOCK" function that can be turned on, and as soon as the scale stabilizes, it quickly locks the displayed weight. But this happens too quickly for my application. In other words, I put some weight on, it locks quickly, and any additional weight is ignored until it's reset, so I can't use the lock function.
