Sometimes I'm boringly utilitarian and practical ... but I like these Homie scrubby sponges, now better than the "other brand" that I've been getting at Wallymart. For me, I prefer to clean my sponges regularly - I use plenty of dish soap with them, I boil them in water in the microwave oven, I rinse them with chlorinated water from the faucet, and I let them dry - rather than replacing them often. So these scrubbies work well for me, and a 6-pack will last a long time. However, if you prefer to regularly throw your old sponges away and fire up a new one, you might not as much prefer the advantage of the "replaceability" of the scrubby part of these sponges. When I first soaked up and soaped up one of these sponges, it felt quite stiff and almost unwieldy in my hand. After just a bit of use, it quickly became a good kitchen cleaning tool, and felt more comfortably "robust" than my discount store scrubby sponges. Actually, when I used my "old" scrubby sponge last night, it felt almost inadequate and wimpy in my hand. The "scrubby" part of the sponge feels coarse enough to help get stuck-on food and stains off of my cookware and dishware, but not so coarse as to scratch up my stuff. And when the "scrubby" gets too worn out for your liking, you can simply peel off that layer ... to make the second of three total scrubby layers available and ready for use. These sponges have a total of three "scrubby" layers ... and one "sponge" layer. For me, I use these scrubby sponges for cleaning everything in my kitchen, but especially for cleaning my cast iron and carbon steel frying pans. However, sometimes I gunk up the "scrubby" side of the sponge so much ... that it only makes everything else dirty or greasy when I use it. So, I've simply used two different scrubby sponges ... one for "heavy duty" grime, and the other for everything else. Now, I can use the same sponge for everything, and simply pull off the "too dirty" ... or "worn out" scrubby part of the sponge, and keep on using it. (Naw ... I'll still keep a separate ... "too dirty" sponge ... for the really dirty and greasy stuff!)

I dont know why there are so many layers it make the sponge stiff and hard to use. I wont buy again these are hard to use.

I am honestly not quite sure how I feel about these sponges. They're definitely not your traditional sponge. The concept of tearing off the sponge part from the first layer of scrubby part when the scrubby gets wore out is absolutely genius in my opinion. I was extra happy that these were a cellulose sponge rather than cheap Dollar store fake sponge. They are a little stiff straight out of the package but as you use them they soften up and fit nicely in the hand. Because of their reusability they are a good value. Once you get over how thick they are, they are very easy to use.
