Serviceable, has annoying voice prompts

I needed to get a 3.5mm line out from the PS5 to my computer speakers since I don't have an HDMI audio exctractor or a decent audio output from my HDMI monitor. This did the trick although the voice prompts were very loud and obnoxious because it was hard to tell what volume it was going to start off at from power up. I did not try the microphone/voice chat funcitonality as I usually use the DualSense audio jack for these purposes, but it does seem to have a game/chat volume balance buttons.

Tons of Potential, but not Entirely Compatible

I loved the idea of this device. As a private pilot and avid flight simmer, I always wished I could "pipe" Bluetooth audio into my headset on my sim like I can do in realworld. I was hoping this device could achieve that. Before I explain what didn't work, a quick primer on my setup. I have an extensive and complex home flight sim with many USB peripherals, two networked PCs (one to run the sim and main screen and another to run the side screens) and I fly with XPlane (usually 11) and PilotEdge. PilotEdge is a networked ATC simulator that offers real ATC controllers who can see my plane and I am able to see, interact with, and talk to ATC and other pilots on PilotEdge via a push-to-talk button on my yoke and my headset microphone. With all of that said, what this device did well was: (1) install quickly and easily as an external USB audio card that my PC immediately recognized, (2) pipe system PC audio to my headset, (3) broadcast a Bluetooth signal that my phone could pair with, and (4) receive Bluetooth audio from my phone. The volume controls for both Bluetooth and PC audio worked great. It was pretty awesome! Then, the bad... although I could see that my headset microphone was outputting audio (I could record audio from the mic on a few different PC applications and could modify microphone settings in the Control Panel), in XPlane and PilotEdge I could not get audio to be detected. I tried troubleshooting this for hours and with no success. So, the one purpose that I really had for this item, I could not use it for. I guess my takehomes are: this is a great product when it works and I got it to work in nearly every single application (except the one I really wanted). If you have a simple setup and especially if microphone use is not needed for your application, this is HIGHLY recommended. However, if your gaming/audio setup is very complex, if you need advanced microphone detection (such as PTT) or - especially - if you're a flight simmer using XPlane and PilotEdge, then use caution - this device might not work for those specific and advanced applications.

This works well for sharing audio across wired and blutooth headphones

I tested this out by using it as a usb sound device on my laptop, then paired it with my cell phone for bluetooth audio. I was able to hear the audio from my computer and from my phone at the same time with fairly good results. Overall, the quality is good and setup was easy with the device pairing quickly. I think this feature is very nice but we live in an age where you can multi task on a single device without having to pull in anything else. Still, I found this device intriguing and I am finding ways to integrate it into my routine device wise.

Okay for basic audio output but not great

The mute button doesn't work (at least not to mute headset mic input). The volume up/down buttons do at least work (they tell Windows to increase or decrease volume). The "virtual 7.1" mode, I'm pretty sure is just the sound card artificially increasing volume and mixing the stereo channels a bit - I couldn't tell any other differences when using a 7.1 surround sound test. The card picks up EMI noise like crazy - I had to unfurl the cable and place the card about a foot away from my laptop to stop picking up some whine and chirps. And mic input through the sound card is really quiet, at least compared to a Corsair USB sound card I've got here. Bluetooth input worked okay. So overall I'd say this thing is just fine for _output_ of audio, but don't get it if you want to be able to use a headset mic.
