J'Organic Solutions Chébé -Cado Pre-Poo Clay hair Mask...

As a type 4 hair girl, I value quality prepoo products because it makes detangling so much easier, all while strengthening the hair at the same time. I just used this mask so I cannot attest to its long term impact. However, the ingredient listing is top tier & when I tell you it made my curls pop & the detangling process was so much easier this wash day, I mean it. It smells slightly like clay & the half creamy/slip texture makes it easy to apply. This is a keeper!

At first I thought the clay was to detoxify or reduce the natural oil build up on the scalp but the instructions only say to spread this on the hair from scalp to ends so perhaps not a scalp treatment?! For reference, I have coarse, naturally wavy hair that's been color-treated (bleached excessively) so I am prone to dryness, poufiness, and split ends. I typically rate hair care products on how tame my pouf is, how many days I can go in between shampooing (scalp oiliness), and how soft my hair feels overall. I know much is dependent on the weather as well. I didn't feel any different that I do in my normal hair routine so I am rating this product an average rating.

The consistency of this product is much thinner than expected so it was a bit hard to apply to my long wavy hair. It's a bit soupy and difficult to get from the tub to my head without making a big mess. Once on dry hair it coated well and thickened up slightly. It took a few minutes to get good overall coverage and I twisted it up with a clip to sit for 20 minutes. After a wash and rinse in the shower my hair felt very smooth and detangled and the next day noticed less frizz and flyaways. I really like the smell of the product and how it makes my hair feel but the application process being a bit problematic dropped the rating just slightly. If this were a creamier mask and not clay soup splattered all over the counter it would have been a 5 star success.

I expected a thick creamy consistency. What I got is pretty thin, and would actually be much easier to handle if it was in a bottle you can pour from. Smells really good. But I can't say I've noticed any benefit to my hair. I still needed extra conditioner in the shower, and still had to deal with tangles on my wavy white girl hair.

Mainly I ordered this because I had heard about using Rhassoul Clay in hair and wanted to try it in my curly hairalthough this has more things in it than just the clay, so it doesnt quite count. It took a bit of time to work it through my hair so it could sit prior to my shower, but overall the process was smooth. The next day, I did notice that my hair didnt seem as frizzy as usual, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, I like it.
