These pencils are overall nice, the only flaw is the lead dispenses very quickly when you press the button. It is hard to get it to dispense the right amount. Otherwise these write smoothly, the lead is red colored.

You could definitely say I am totally impressed with the JUNE GOLD 24 BLUE 2.0MM MECHANICAL PENCILS. I would love to have these pencils in multiple colors, and I may look into getting more of them in the future. I'm not an artist, but I'm a creative person, and I have a lot of art supplies. It's rare that I am enthusiastically over-the-top impressed with a pencil, pen, or marker. These blue pencils would be an exception. They have a lot to offer. First of all, these are mechanical pencils. When you press the bottom of the pencil, it raises a little more pencil, so essentially, you never have a worn down pencil that needs to be sharpened. But people who do artwork like to have a very fine point, even on their mechanical pencils. These pencils have a feature I've never seen before. If you remove the bottom cap, there is a hole that will allow you to sharpen your pencil to a very fine point. Each one of the twenty pencils has a sharpener attached. Discovering this feature felt like a eureka moment for me. It's like discovering that your pencil is capable of doing things you never expected. The sharpeners work extremely well. The pencil lead is the right combination of soft and hard to allow you to express yourself artistically. These pencils are absolutely awesome, they come in a huge pack of 20. I have yet to have one run out of lead. They do hard lines and soft lines. They are great for artists and want-to-be artists like me. This is a great price for some amazing pencils.

Decent quality for price

At 2.0mm, the lead in these mechanical pencils appears to be around the same thickness as a standard pencil, though I can't say for sure. Thus the sharpener built-in to the end of every pencil, so you can put a point on it once it gets dull rather than just advancing more lead as you do in mechanical pencils with thiner led - though you can and do advance the led in these as well. Writing was nice and smooth, I didn't feel I had to press hard or anything to get a good mark, nor did I feel I was going to break the tip. Overall, I'd say these are excellent mechanical pencils if you want something more robust than your "thin" led mechanical pencil, and while you may have to sharpen them, the built-in sharpener makes that easy. And they come in various colors as well! Well worth considering.

I ordered these pencils specifically for use in my shop. I'm primarily a metal fabricator, but I frequently incorporate wood into my designs. I've used a carpenter's pencil, standard mechanical pencils, and even drafting mechanical pencils in a 1.0mm lead size. They all worked to some degree, but I prefer crisp lines and a carpenter's pencil was too chunky and better suited for rough framing, not finish work. A mechanical pencil works pretty good but I'd eventually wear off the tip from dragging it along a straight edge. And finally, a drafting pencil worked best because of its steel tip that could handle the abuse, but if you dropped it at the wrong angle, you'd bend it and game over for that one. So as you can see, I've tried them all and these red lead holders are the best! Each one has a built in sharpener, so no more searching for a knife, sharpener, or scribbling it to a point on a piece of paper. The lead is thick too, so while it will break if dropped, it's robust in use. I like the symmetrical barrel design too because I was formally taught as an architect, so when drafting or marking any lines, it's natural for me to roll the pencil as I drag it to keep the point intact and the line weight consistent. These handle that situation perfectly and because it's the lead riding against my straight edge, I always have a fresh wear piece to use instead of wearing out the pencil body itself. Maybe my favorite of all is the color! Standard graphite colored pencils contrast just fine on wood, but I've been in a situation many times where there has been marks or paint transfer from the wood being in transit and they're always a dark or black mark. This can lead to confusion on where your mark is as it can blend in. Not a problem with red, you know which mark is yours!
