They work in my machine

Though product description gives a long list of machine brands that this darning/embroidery foot is supposed to fit, note the fine print. It works only with low rise or low shank machines. I have three White sewing machines, and one of them (model KNS "Dressmaker" from the 1960s) is a high shank and this foot will not work with it. Fortunately, the one I use most is a model 415 from 1976 and it fits that one and works as expected. This gadget is a more sophisticated replacement for the "darning spring" that comes with some machines. It allows free movement stitching, suited to monograms and other embroidery, some quilting methods, and machine darning of small holes. Unfortunately, the item comes with no instructions on setting it up, adjusting it, machine settings to go with it, or how to use it. Some books on machine embroidery or machine quilting will have a discussion, though. And my machine user guides discuss using the more primitive darning spring, which operates in a similar if less precise manner. When properly installed (feed dogs down, lighter thread tensions perhaps, presser foot tension perhaps released) it takes only a little practice to manipulate the fabric for darning or embroidery. Worth the small price for the capabilities, and I expect to use it frequently.

I wanted to try free motion sewing. If you do you need this. Don't forget to lower the feed dogs :)
