I protect all my lenses by putting a UV filter on them before I use them. The filter not only reduces the unwanted flare through the filter coating but also prevents accidental touch, dirt or smudge on the lens. It protects the lens from scratches and increases the lens life, without any noticeable impact on the picture quality. I am impressed by the ultra thin width of the filter and its quality.

I just returned from Africa where I used this in dry, dusty environment. It is well made and protected my camera. I took over 5,000 photos. All were sharp and clear save for 2 which had a little purplish boken in direct sun. Good value !!

This is a UV filter for camera lenses. The filter is clear glass with a UV coating that may reduce UV exposure through your lens. It has double threads; that is, another filter can be screwed on the front of this one. The filter comes packaged in a hinged plastic box for secure storage. I am quite pleased with the clarity of this filter. I dont even notice that it is on my lens. It does not cause any vignetting. To be honest, I cant see the difference with a UV filter on the front of my lenses, even though I have been using them for 30 years. But I dont like to go without one because I am hard on my cameras and I take them everywhere. I got this filter to replace one that gave its life to protect my $1,000 lens when I accidentally dropped the camera. The UV filter took the fall and cracked, but the lens was intact. Im glad to find this inexpensive yet quite functional UV filter to replace it. Overall, this filter is completely transparent and an economical way to reduce risk of damage to your expense camera lenses.

I have two Nikon DSLR kits that were given to me as gifts by my Dad. He gifted me with a beginner's model because he knew how much I liked to do B&W film photography years ago. As I learned a little bit more about using a digital camera, he gave me a new, more advanced one. I use both cameras and all of the lenses that came with them and I needed some protective lens filters. I was happy to find this rather inexpensive model (the 52 mm version is only $14.99) and it fits perfectly on the Nikkor 18-55 AF-S f/3.5-5.6G lens that came with the beginner camera. It is very thin and light and I just leave it in place all of the time as I am always worried about scratching my lenses whenI am trying to take pictures of plants, bugs and birds and stuff out in the yard or at the park. It is great for drizzly days or when there is some fog. The glass and coatings seem to be of very good quality and I haven't noticed any issues with color or vignetting. The price seems very reasonable for something that will protect my lens from dust, droplets or scratches and the lens filter arrived well packaged in a plastic case.
