Short, but nice colors

When I received the package, I saw 10 rolls (one of which had slipped out of the plastic band) and a bunch of loose yarn. The loose yarn looks like it might be the 11th roll, but might be both 11th and 12th. Even though the yarn is rather short (2-1/16), I think this might be an okay length to use for one of those purses that have a plastic grid form that you can latch hook. The color assortment in the set is versatile.

I have latch hooked two rugs in the past and as my hands are giving me problems I tried a small wall hanging project to see if I could still do latch hook. I'm happy to say that I can. Over the years, I have picked up rug yarn, both acrylic and wool at thrift stores and yard sales. Some was still in skeins while most were in bundles that were 2.5" long and the bundles held around 200-250 pieces according to their many varied labels. I knew I wanted more colors and this neutral set was the only one available to try out. Last night I handled a lot of rug yarn and then got this yarn in the mail today. What surprise! I had not been able to see all the thumbnails in the listing as I was having trouble loading the pictures, so I didn't see the measurements. These rug yarn bundles are barely 2 - 2.25" long and I seriously doubt that there is 200 pieces in the bundle as the ones I compared them to are about three times as large. Perhaps the yarn is three times skinnier? The listing, that I looked at again just before writing this review, intimated that you could crochet or knit with this yarn including making blankets. Unless you would like the weight of sleeping under the rug with the scratchy background, I'm not sure what kind of blanket you can make. None of the pictures of 'finished' articals other than the back of a rug, showed anything made with these 2" pieces of yarn. Even the one picture of a zebra look carpet was taken in a rug/carpet store, not with a bunch of latch hooked rugs. I appreciate the opportunity to try out this yarn. I will try to find a way to work these smaller pieces into a project. Thank you.
