These work very well. I was actually surprised at how strong the magnets were. I stuck one on the front of my refrigerator & when I tried to pull it off, it pulled the door open, and that isnt very easy to do!
Easy to use. Just make sure you attach it to METAL. These newer aluminum cars have issues holding anything magnetic and it will end up on the ground.
With some newer key fobs that are "keyless", being in close contact with the car will prevent it from locking, even if the key is outside of the car and not inside. In order to use this key holder, you have to wrap your key fob in a piece of aluminum foil before putting it in the box. With older keys, this is not a problem. I do this whenever I fly out of the airport and don't want to carry the key fob with me on a trip. By doing this, It will spare me the expense of several hundred of dollars at the dealer in case I lose the key fob while travelling. I tested the magnets on the box and it is sufficiently strong enough to attach to any steel part of the car without the dangers of falling off. However, I would not permanently place this box on the car as a solution to keeping a spare key fob nearby. A good jolt from hitting a pothole can possibly dislodge this box, although I doubt it. The manufacturer can improve on this design by putting in a metal liner inside the box to prevent RFID signal communication between the key fob and the car.
