Strong magnet, secure and easy to adjust

My go-to trick for straight stitches used to be to lay masking tape at the desired seam thickness. but while this was a good visual guide, it didn't do anything for helping with slippery materials or adjusting the fabric if you did slip off target. This was my solution when using a modern sewing machine, since antique Singers *literally came with a guide like this* (I could bore you to tears with a lecture on how this is one of many reasons a used pre-70s machine is vastly superior). I'd seen these kinds of guides around and they look very much like a modern variation on those antique guides' design. I was very curious to see if they'd be an appreciable improvement over the cheap tape method. I've been very pleased with this! Just measure the depth of your desired seam and stick this in place. it holds tight but slides at least enough to get into position. the screw on the top ensures the foot on it can handle different fabric thicknesses. The pressure is enough to keep sheer or satin fabrics from straying wildly.

Im so glad I found this sewing magnet! I do a lot of sewing and the previous guide magnets kept moving all the time. This one stays in place guiding my spacing. Its big making it easy to guide and sew fast. It even stays in place when working with elastic. The clip holds the fabric securely to help with the stitches accuracy and placement.
