This is a nice little set of brushes that have a nice balance and weight to them. They are nicely made and the bristles do not shed and they clean up and dry nice. They hold their shape and tend to not stain. Offers smooth lines and even strokes.

I was amazed at the quality here, I am an watercolorist, I know how important paint brushes are for watercolors, these are amazing for the price. I also use a couple of these for acrylics and even applying micas to clay, every time I am amazed at how well they hold up for the price. The pastel handles are something I didnt know I wanted, they look adorable laying around and I love that they are different then main stream brushes in that way, not black, wood or dark blue. They just make me smile.

One of the standout features of this set is the variety & versatility of the 12 different brush types that it offers for different techniques and painting styles. The nylon bristles on these brushes seem high quality, and are soft yet sturdy, and distribute paint evenly, with no shedding or fraying so far. The brushes also hold their shape well, even after multiple uses and cleanings. The pastel "macaron" colors are also unique and eye catching, and add a fun touch to my art supplies, while also making it easier to differentiate between the different brush types. This has been especially helpful when working on multiple projects at once. The only minor con I have noticed with this set is that the handles are a bit shorter than what I am used to. This may not be an issue for everyone, but for someone with larger hands or anyone used to larger brushes, it can take some getting used to. However, this does not affect the overall performance of the brushes and is just a personal preference.

Review of Nicpro 12 PCS Pastel Artist Paint Brushes Set, Different Type of Nylon Paint Bush Macaron Colors Prefect Works with Oil, Acrylic and Watercolor Tempera Art Painting & Drawing I mainly use the angle and flat brushes and I saw this set had a good selection of those. I tested them doing a painting and found they perform at a good level for an economy brush. They held paint well, held up okay against pressure when applying the paint to the canvas, but not quite as well as brushes made of stiffer material. I did not feel like I was struggling to use them. What I noticed was when loaded with paint they would sometimes flex and not snap back fully to position, but not so bad they were hard to use. I think these would work well for tempera, gouache and I tried them with acrylics and they worked fine. They may work okay for a dry brush style in watercolor. These a decent brush set for acrylics for the price. They clean easily, and retain their shape when wet and not being used (not always true of inexpensive brushes). You can achieve brushstroke variety with them and they will do impasto effects. These are listed as being for beginners and artists, they do not mention being for professional. I think that is a reasonable description as acrylic painting materials are often listed in three or four categories: Hobby, Beginner, Artist, Professional. These fit well in the first three categories. I painted the attached painting using just these brushes.

In my shop I am pretty abusive to small brushes for small touch-up jobs, so I tend to buy them in in the carded or bagged assortments for around $10. I'm not reviewing these from the perspective of an artist that covets fine brushes, so keep this in mind. I use these mainly for tasks such as small varnishing jobs, color-filling text on engraved plates, or touching up machining marks on prefinished metal. However the brushes in this package are better quality than what I usually buy, with more different shapes and the well-defined shaping of the tips. For less than the price of a single brush from an art supply store you get quite an assortment of shapes for hobby or beginning-artist use. After washing the binder out of each brush and reshaping to dry I found them to hold their original shapes quite well. The copper-colored ferrules are actually still aluminum (which is perfectly fine), and they were probably finished in copper color for a distinctive look. Overall these are actually nice enough that I'm going to try to remember to clean them after use from now on :) . I would, and probably will buy more of these.
