This box of mechanical pencil and leads gives me the choice of leads of different hardnessand a pack of colored leads too, which is pretty original ! And the originality does not end there: there is also a micro sharpener, something that I had never seen with mechanical pencils and leads. I guess that someone might need a very fine point. As usual in these kinds of boxes, there are erasers too. A lot of options, which justifies the slightly high price.

This is a very nice assortment of mechanical pencil items. Having everything together makes a nice way to present it as a gift, but I do find the case a bit difficult to open. This item was claimed by a smaller family member soon after it came into the house. She absolutely loves it. Although she has a large collection of art pencils already, I am being made to understand that this fills some sort of microscopic yet critical gap in her collection and she needs this pencil too. I'm happy that it is so well-loved but wish it hadn't been whisked away from me before I knew what was happening. I have been allowed to take it back on loan and try it out so I could review it. PENCIL It has an aluminum exterior and a textured grip. It seems to be quite well-made and sturdy. It should be able to stand up well even if it's not well-cared for. As with many other mechanical pencils, there's a cap on the end which covers its little eraser. Removing the eraser lets you load more graphite. There's a little band at the end of the pencil that you can rotate to indicate which graphite you're currently using. It's not at a place that you're likely to touch by mistake, but it does rotate easily so if you use it, be careful not to move it accidentally. SHARPENER As silly as it is, my favorite part is the sharpener. I didn't even know they made sharpeners for mechanical pencil graphite. It has a tiny hole, just large enough for one of the graphite sticks. After I thought about it, I realized that 2mm is rather large for drawing and it's nice to be able to sharpen this pencil just like you would any other pencil if you want a fine point. ERASERS It comes with a nice soft eraser. The eraser may not remove all your graphite marks on any surface, but it works well. There are also 9 small erasers for replacements in the pencil. GRAPHITE You get a range of hardnesses for different levels of shading. You also get some colored inserts. One of the few things that I wish was different about this set is that I wish they included more colors. You get 12 colors which basically includes the rainbow, pink, brown, and dark & light versions of green, blue, and purple.
