Im a fan of Nicpros Blocky Gear Mechanical Pencils. They have a nice, light, but solid balanced feel. The lead holder can take a lot of pressureespecially the 2.0 size. This set has everything you need for regular mechanical pencil use, including lead sharpeners. I love that I wont have to buy pencil eraser refills for a LONG time. The one gripe I have with the set is that I wish it included a couple more 2.0 pencils. It comes with an AWESOME selection of hardness refills (plus color leads) in the 2.0 size only. Its kind of a pain to keep swapping leads with just one pencil.

I usually use wood pencils for drawing but occasionally I like to use a mechanical pencil and this set is really nice because you have each pencil size in a different color so you can easily pick which width of your HB pencil you want. I also like that is has colored lead and also comes with the various lead from HB to 6B softness and darkness.

I got into the habit of sketching with colored lead pencils like Col-Erase years ago after working in a large art department with some ex-animators. Since then, I still keep up the habit of drawing loosely with a light color like yellow or orange, refining the details with red or blue, then finally making my final line art using a light board with sharp black graphite. This set has everything you'd need to make some really nice, detailed drawings from start to finish. I absolutely LOVE how they've organized all the pencils by lead thickness. There's enough supplies here to keep you sketching for quite a while. The quality of the pencils is very good and they've wisely included graphite of several hardnesses to achieve variations in value and line quality. If you're into drafting, illustration, comics, or even colorful note taking in a notebook or textbook, this set has absolutely everything you'd need. As a professional artist, I highly endorse this set!

I got this kit because I'm starting to do more design/engineering work and needed a quality set of pencils for this and I can say this fits the bill. It's really nice having several different lead sizes and the kit comes with pretty much everything you could need to get started. My only wish would be a ruler engraved on the barrel of the pencil. I don't always have a ruler or straight edge around to use and it would be nice to have in a pinch. I did try to DIY this on my diode laser cutter but it didn't leave any marks even at full blast.
