Nice Amount for the Money

I love this peppermint oil. If you have a stuffy nose, put a few drops on your pillow at night and it sure helps you to breath easier. Very strong, so it only takes a little. I also use it in the fabric softner container in my front load washer when I wash our 3 tiny Yorkies washable potty pads. It ads a nice scent to them. Again only takes a few drops.

Ants are gone, gone, gone!

I'v had a problem with those tiny ants over the past week or so. I used the liquid ant traps with some success. But, I couldn't get them to go into the trap - they just walked around it. So, I spilled some out. I read that some ants are more attracted to protein-based "food" traps and others prefer sweet-based "food" traps. I didn't taste these so I don't know what type they are. I then tried Borax and had some success - but I think the borax didn't stick to the ants very well because the granules were too large. The idea is for the ants to carry the stuff back to the nest on their bodies and poison their food supply. I then sprayed a little peppermint oil in an attempt to contain where the ants were coming into the room (a radiator) so that the ants would perhaps use the ant traps near the radiator instead of spreading out across the room. They completely disappeared within two minutes! To my surprise the ants haven't returned - I haven't seen a single ant for 24 hours! They really hate the stuff. The ants reminded me of a long past girlfriend - she hated all things peppermint as well. :) I didn't get a chance to try boric acid because the ants disappeared, but I think that it would have been more effective than Borax for these tiny ants because I noticed that the granules are much finer. I'm waiting for the peppermint smell to wear off to see if the ants return. If the ants do return, I'll try the boric acid. But, at least now I know how to control them - I was having nightmares that they were falling from the ceiling.
