For sustainability and health reasons, it's nice that this Ovega-3 supplement is derived from the bottom of the food chain. I was impressed by all of the information on the Ovega-3 ZeeBooth store page that details the health and ecological benefits of this product. I don't find any mention of lab testing or third-party verification of the ingredients, but it seems legit. Each of these tiny softgels provides 250mg of omega-3 (although 2 are recommended as a daily serving). At 60 for $24.99 that's about 41 cents per softgel. I was curious to try this instead of my usual supplement, the Kirkland Sustainably Sourced Fish Oil softgels. I buy those for the price and the fact that it is USP tested and verified and uses molecular distillation to remove PCB's, dioxins and keep mercury below 0.1 parts/million. At 400 for $16, each 1000mg softgel provides 300mg of omega-3 for just 4 cents. I like reaching for the absolute optimal impact on health and environment, but for me, I can't afford 10x the price for that incremental benefit.

Although pricy, I absolutely appreciate that there exists a vegan version of omega. This is super easy to swallow (theyre tiny) and I didnt notice any weird tastes or effects. Only problem might end up being affordability as these will disappear quickly but that is always going to be the case with algae pills but these an absolute must

Thus, the bottle of 60 provides a 1 month supply. The mid-sized capsules come in a tamper resistant bottle without a child proof cap. Expiration date is about 1.5 years from date of arrival of product.

OVEGA-3 Plant-Based Omega-3 is a supplement that provides DHA and EPA fatty acids from algae rather than from fish. I like that algae is a sustainable source for supplements, but the way they pitch it on their site doesn't tell the whole story. This Ovega plant-based omega 3 gives you 280 mg of DHA and 95 mg of EPA. Two capsules of a standard fish oil supplement gives you 240 mg of DHA and 300 mg of EPA. As you can see, there is a different ratio of DHA to EPA in the algae-based supplement than the fish-based supplement. This may or may not be an issue, there is a wide variation in recommendations for the amount of omega-3 to take, but you should be aware that you are not getting the same ratio or amount of omega 3s with algae as with fish. The small capsules of Ovega 3 are of course easy to swallow. They do smell slightly of algae, but not unpleasantly so. The bottle seems larger than necessary. The bottle seemed only about one-third full when I first opened it. Neither my wife or I had any burps after taking these capsules.

I like to take algae-based omega 3 supplements, I prefer them to traditional fish oil supplements. In my opinion they hold less contaminants like mercury etc, then their successors because of their position on the food chain. Once you take a fish oil supplement, the mercury and toxins have been amplifying throughout the lower organisms as they are consumed. Algae are single celled eukaryotes that are photosynthetic so they make their own food just like plants do, thereby they do not have to take in other animal species to survive and can only be exposed to toxins through their environment which is generally carefully controlled when sourcing these supplements. I really like this supplement because the capsules are relatively small, the recommended dose is 2 per day but they are really easy to swallow. Each dose has a total of 500mg of omega 3 oils so it is a good amount. There is a 30 day supply in the bottle. The price is pretty comparable to other algae based supplements like it. It has a slight fishy smell, but I don't sense a fishy aftertaste at all.
