Parkade Board Game - Word Games and Parking Cars - Party Game for Friends and Family Game Night - 5-15 Minutes for 3-13 Players...

Functionality: This is a game I had never heard of from a games company I had also never heard of. Despite this and potential concerns over quality, this was actually really good! The gameplay was decent, a good family game that can involve elementary age and up children. It has a similar gameplay idea as other games I have played, but it has its own unique play as well and a fun theme/concept. It can be a quick game too, if you want to play something light and family-friendly but are limited on time. Quality: Surprisingly good, which again I only say because of not having heard of the company before. The box is very stylish and would fit right in on a game shelf. Everything is well made as you would expect for a game. Very happy with it. Value: This is good value. It isn't a revolutionary game, but for the price and and fun it can bring, I would consider it worth it. Would I Buy? I am not sure I would specifically seek out this game (not typically a ""family game night"" person and more of a board game like Carcassonne, 7 Wonders, etc. person), but I do not regret getting it and am happy to keep it in the game night rotation for now.

Parkade is a blast! It's an awesome card game where you have to convince the parking guard why your car deserves a spot. With its easy setup and cool pictures of cars, it's perfect for hanging out with friends or having a laid-back game night. Plus, there are different ways to play and loads of cards and words, so the fun never stops. Seriously, Parkade is a must-have for game nights!

We try to do a family game once in a while, but we're a small family of 4. Once we get everyone on board and together, there's a kind of short attention span for game time (kids these days, right?)... Actually we parents are not the best at making time either! I like that this little card game has various sets of play rules to choose from and you can kind of come up with whatever works for your group size. It's simple to set up out of the box, and the cards are easy to handle and keep track of for small hands. We quickly played through 4 rounds, with each of us winning a round and becoming the "guard" once. So it was great for a quick little game break, get everyone off their devices and using their heads for a bit! The challenging bit for us was the idea of everyone talking over each other to get the guard to agree with the word association. When you spend so much time in life prompting the kids to wait their turn, be kind, listen, etc - this kind of game becomes uncomfortable. Since we're playing with an 8 year old, 11 year old and 2 adults, we really have to soften the competitive edge so the 8 year old has a chance without getting frustrated and ruining game night. 2nd graders are new to reading, and just developing the meanings and associations of words, so it's a very fun way to get them thinking, but the thinking naturally goes a little slower. It seems like the different game-play rule sets are a guide and you can definitely use the set to make up your own rules - whatever works! Overall the kids had fun coming up with word pairs, and we will pull this game out to play at times when we need a quick simple game. I also think it would be a great game to have in a 3rd-5th grade classroom to get kids thinking, articulating their ideas and advocating for their ideas in a polite way.

We've had fun with Trophies by this same publisher, so I was eager to try this. Unfortunately, the rules weren't quite clear on a few points and I always get frustrated by this, especially with a fairly simple game. Some of these questions can be house-ruled, especially with a lighter party game, but I like feeling confident about the correct way to play. The double-sided cards also make it a bit weird. I understand why they did this, to allow more options per card and still have one work per "end", but flipping them around all the time to look at all the choices is awkward. On the positive, the art is really fun and colorful and I love the visuals. Overall, this is a fairly simple word-association game and I see potential for this to be fun with the right group. With gaps in the rules and several variants, it feels like they had a neat idea and had a lot of fun playing it, but didn't really nail it down into a finalized game. With real-time games, clarification on timing is pretty important and I don't like not knowing how to teach this or resolve timing issues.

First, everything in the box is sturdy and quality made. Second, the artists really got creative and put some effort into the cards. Third, the directions were hilarious. At first we didn't like the idea of convincing the parking attendant of a match, so of the 3 variations, we chose the second 1 in which you get 1 new car each round (it has 4 word options on it) and the parking attendant had to turn around while we parked our cars in the parking space word that we wanted. That way when he or she turned back around there was no favoritism. This became hilarious because sometimes another driver was faster than you so you'd be left with a space that only made an outrageous match. We didn't have to argue for a reason why the car should stay, we just all laughed and let the parking attendant pick the 1 that he/she liked the best and often it was the funniest one. Next, we tried the first variation in which you have 5 cars that you're trying to get rid of first and the parking attendant is judging and adding parking space words as they get filled up. It did get a little chaotic so you've got to be fast; I don't think struggling readers would fair well in this version, but we had 2 out of 5 English-as-a-second-language players and they held their own and often won! Each variation is nice and fast so you can play over and over. I loved this game and would say it's for older kids like preteens (who would get why certain word associations are funny) and adults. Have fun with your road rage!
