Pentel Twist-Erase III Mechanical Pencil with Lead and Eraser Refills (QE515LEBP)...

Really nice, dark line for a .5mm. Fairly hard, I dont have to advance the lead every 30 seconds like most mechanicals. I tend to beat down a little hard and the lead did not break. It advances easily without dropping the lead. The twist eraser is wonderful, barrel diameter is comfortable, cushion provides grip without feeling sticky. I like it so much I just ordered a 4 pack!

This is my favorite mechanical pencil... I have them all over. In my offices & my daily backpack. I like a sharp pencil & thin pencil leads are prone to breaking. These work really well for me. It's comfortable to use for note taking & editing for extended periods and it's easy to refill.

No need to pay for the expensive metal drafting pencils if all you want is a reliable mechanical pencil with a great eraser for crossword puzzles. I've gone through several since my wife and i do crosswords and the expensive ones are great until the lead stops feeding (which happens quite a bit). These pentel work great, are comfortable and they work!! I prefer the .7mm for crosswords as they don't tear the newspaper. save your money and opt for these.

There isnt a ton to say here. Its easy to extend the lead and erase, and it writes very nicely, and the eraser works well. It comes with extra lead and an extra eraser. Seems very well built for what it is, and it works so well my wife stole mine so I had to buy another one! I love this pencil!

I am a writer, have done mechanical drafting, and am an artist. I prefer to do all of these activities using a mechanical pencil. These are the only mechanical pencils I will buy. (Yes, the mechanical drafting pencils are probably better, but I don't like their feel, their usability isn't great for me, nor do I like their price.) These even work despite my severe carpal tunnel! This pencil is the closest I have seen to perfection for a mechanical pencil. Its eraser is even large enough for folks like me who constantly make mistakes and want to change what they wrote, in addition to being easily replaceable. The lead is protected for writing, thus it isn't always braking, unlike other pencils with this sized lead. The lead holder is sturdy, thus the pencil doesn't break at the tip after only an hour or two of writing. Really, these pencils are so good that I have purchased well over two hundred of this model since they came out about 25 years ago! (Mostly I loose them, but a few have stopped working after 5-10 years. I haven't figured out why those stopped working, but that's a decent run for a pencil.) For the longest time my husband refused to use mechanical pencils because they always break. After using one of these once, he now steals them all the time and I keep having to buy even more of them. In addition I have noticed that more and more of my friends have started using these after borrowing one from me for a short use.
