This double-sided brush is very useful for getting undercoat out and also for breaking up mats. Unlike a comb, it doesn't just jam into a mat and make it even worse, or a slicker brush that can't be of any use at all. It slices through tangles and mats. With a breed like a Newfie with very long hair, this sort of tool is essential. Keeping the mats out and the undercoat clear keeps them from getting hotspots, which are both uncomfortable for the dog and prone to infection. I like that it is double sided because you can start with the side with fewer teeth that are further apart, and when that is moving easily through the fur you can switch to the other side. One thing to note is that this tool is not recommended for breeds that don't shed.

This thing is awesome! My dog has been shedding soo much this summer, it's kinda crazy how much I sweep off the floor two, sometimes three times a day. I used this product today and man was I surprised at how well it works! I kept brushing and brushing as the pile of shed was getting bigger and bigger. Just when I thought there's no way there's more, it kept getting full. Now that we got all that shed out he is nice and soft and my bed has minimal hair lol. He's always been a really bad shedder but I'm thinking with using this daily, it will cut down on the hair all over the apartment significantly. I've already noticed way less on the floor so that'd a huge plus. I was actually really surprised at how well this tool works. It's also a decent quality build wise,all the teeth are heavy duty stainless and a somewhat comfortable plastic grip. I'm impressed and can highly recommend this product.

Amazing little grooming tool. you have to be careful and not pull too hard. This was after about eight minutes of grooming, my little fluffy dog Inu. I need to use it weekly. I put the hair out for the birds. Easy, value for the money, performance A++

I have an American short hair with a thick under coat from the winter that the normal brushes werent getting. Holy cow! This pulled that under coat up like it was soft butter, but this tool is serious. Have to be easy using it or the cat gets hurt. Not recommended for thin coats.

I bought this brush after seeing dozens of videos about it on social media, but the truth is it's not comfortable for grooming short haired cats. They don't need the deeper coat removal-- they need surface brushing. My cat hated this brush (and its wide, deep teeth( from the very first use. I am donating it to my local humane society for use on dogs or long haired cats.
