Each of these puzzle sets comes with a double sided sheet with all of the phonemes and examples used and a translucent bag for storing the puzzles (you could technically get them back in the box, but the box is a bit flimsy and you would have to place and stack them all just so to carefully slide them in. A bag or a bigger box is the way to go). I will say Im a little bummed that the picture for fat is of a little boy next to a skinnier version of himself. fat is not a bad word, but we often use it that way and kids pick up on that. Its a potential problem that could be simply avoided by using an animal, or by using a different word (like bat ot mat or pat). The word bad is also not depicted well in my opinion. Its a shirtless boy with a cape, horns, trident and red eyes. Its not symbolism that many are kiddos are familiar with, and many are trying to avoid it these days anyways. Its a hard concept to visualize with a static image (fad and tad would be equally hard to depict; you could have just done lad but I get it bad is a more common word). Maybe a picture of rotten food? Like a banana or apple thats gone bad would be better. The pieces are technically self correcting, but you have to watch color border AND shape- otherwise you could force pieces together. The colors within a set are all grouped together so you can use these well without mixing different sets. A lot of thought went into how these sounds were grouped and how which sounds are paired for each double sided puzzle. You can include more or less to increase the difficulty or draw attention to different parts of the sounds. The cardboard is as thick as I would expect and its printed and cut well. Its standard clip art type stuff, and everyone is white, just be aware. With intentional usage by old enough kiddos it should hold up.

These phonics puzzles will be a great addition to my phonics toolbox. The puzzles fit together perfectly. I tested the fit by taking one puzzle apart, putting it back together, and then picking it up by one corner piece, and it stayed together. I love that I will be able to pass out one piece to each student during small group phonics lessons; each student will have their own word to sound out and read.

These puzzles are amazing for learning phonics. I have the entire set and we use them frequently. All of the pieces are double-sided, so each set does not have a ton of pieces to keep track of. Pictures are really good too.
