The instructions do say not to spray directly on the surface of the piano but rather to use the microfiber cloth provided. I have a black lacquered piano that we take really good care of. After reading that it was leaving a dull finish, I was hesitant to use on the body so tested on one key first and came back the following day to check on it and ended up doing the remaining keys. Here are my takeaways: - I currently use ammonia-free cleaner to shine up the piano lacquer but I found this to be pretty nice and the "dullness" goes away after you buff the keys with a dry microfiber cloth. - It's quite expensive because I can easily get the ammonia-free windex for $3.50 and it came recommended by two piano vendors. - Did not feel waxy or heavy which is a plus and will use it on other surfaces first before committing to the piano.

This polishing spray is effective at making wood shine nicely, without building up a layer of wax or oil that would feel tacky to the touch later. I don't find it particularly useful for cleaning so instead I use a different cleaning spray to remove dirt and greasy buildup from where hands touch the wood frequently, and then use this as the final polish. It doesn't smell like anything. The sprayer head is really good at making a fine mist, and I like that it has a lock-unlock button. The buffing cloth included is plenty large and thick, with a suede side and a terry side. The paintbrush they threw into this kit as a duster made me laugh--it's literally just a large paintbrush or makeup brush. Oh well. I guess it performs the function well enough, so why not use it? It just doesn't quite strike the same professional tone as the rest of the kit.
