Unfortunately this night splint did not work well for me. It wound up just pulling back my toes (my big toe in particular). This could be a problem particular to me, however, as Ive been told by a podiatrist that my big toe is hyper-flexible. This might work better for people who have big toes that are stiffer. If when you pull back your big toe, and the rest of your foot bends back with it, then maybe this brace will work for you. Although the design does not work for me, this seems to be a comfortable and well made brace.

The word "Splint" used in the item's title at the time I requested this item, led me to believe it might actually function like a splint & thus actually have some portion of it that's rigid. Unfortunately, it does not. It seems to me that this "sock" would work FAR better if it was less of a sock & more of a rigid plank that's held in position in a similar way, but pulls your FOOT toward your knee instead of pulling your TOES toward your knee. I tried this out since my calves seem to be getting tight, making me look like a tip-toe-er in bed, & I've often thought about how I'd try to correct the issue by wearing something at night. My design's much larger & probably works better, especially since it would allow my toes to stay in line with my foot. This "sock" doesn't do that. It does it's best to pull your toes as far as possible toward your knee. I tried to wear it(thought it would be a 2-pack since the title says "Socks" - plural vs singular, but whatever) the night of the day I got it but had to take it off after half-an-hour. It was far too uncomfortable, making the front "pad" of my foot & the big toe & toe next to it NUMB! Regardless of price, I do NOT recommend this product. It needs to go back to the drawing board(especially since there's no board in it!)!

I ordered the COMFORCE Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint and received it very quickly. I decided to try it out when going to bed as it is a night splint. The night splint is comfortable and a medium fits a U.S. size 9 foot. The tension strap can be adjusted to apply however much lift you want to your foot to stretch the plantar fasciitis. The fabric of the night splint is neoprene. I wore the night splint without a sock and I found that my foot was soon sweating inside the splint. Im not sure if the splint absorbed the sweat or not, but in any case, it means you will have to clean the splint frequently due to sweat. You might be able to get around this issue by wearing a sock. My big toe toe-nail was just a little bit long and it seemed like I could feel the toe tip and toe nail pushing against the end of the splint, meaning that if I were to wear the splint very much, I would need to ensure my toe nails were always cut short. I had no discomfort wearing the plantar fasciitis night splint other than the sweat issue. I cant say whether it relieved plantar fasciitis symptoms, but it did put a gentle stretch on my foot that felt fairly nice.

I've had plantar fasciitis for over 15 years and one of the most effective tools I have for coping with it is to wear a night splint when there are flare ups. My custom orthotics keeps it under control most of the time, but when I'm on long through-hikes there are often flare ups. For this reason, I always carry a pair of night splints in my backpack. I'm on a quest to find the perfect backpacking night splint and this one comes the closest so far of the many I've tried. See my photos for the COMFORCE night splint compared to the one I normally use. First off, it less than half the weight and folds so it's easy to pack. It's also lower profile while wearing it which is important in a tight sleeping bag. Finally, its much easier to apply at night in the dark which are situations I frequently find myself in while backpacking. Best off, is that it is highly effective in keeping the foot in a neutral, slightly stretched position while you sleep. This is important because the plantar fascia heal while you sleep. However, your feet and toes normally curl down slightly while you sleep, so without the night splint, they heal in a contracted position. This is why that first step in the morning that PF sufferers are all too familiar with is so painful. Not only is it painful, it also reinjures the plantar fascia without proper stretching. I highly recommend this night splint and will probably convert over to it as my go to splint, espeally for hiking and traveling.
