The questions in this grouping are personable but also thought-provoking, and more authentic than some of those I've seen in other sets or for free online. Each set of cards is packaged in its own box and grouped into categories: Family Insights, Through Generations, Know Me Better, Light Talk, and Deep Meanings. I think this is a fair categorization that fairly accurately reflects the questions in them. The packaging is nicely done and gives it an elegant quality when sitting on a bookshelf or end table. These types of questions are good not only for your immediate or extended family, but also for church groups, therapy groups, youth connections, and family-oriented gatherings. I think the age demographic for this product is teen-oriented, however, as some of the images in the original listing suggest the inclusion of younger children when some of the questions would need to be modified or skipped depending on the age of your family members. Proceed based on your own values and the development level of your children if you're thinking of using this with kids younger than adolescents. I'm not sure I would label this as 'fun' depending on the sharing comfort level of everyone involved, but it should spark conversation and understanding.

This deck contains 100 cards and each card has five questions. So there are 500 questions. The cards are nicely-designed and are good quality. The deck comes inside a cellophane sack inside a well-fitting box. The print and text on the cards are easy to read with my reading glasses. Im guessing that the font size is about 10. There are five categories of questions in the deck: Deep Meanings, Know Me Better, Light Talk, Family Insights, and Through Generations. The questions vary quite a lot between light and serious. For example, here are a couple of examples from one of the Light Talk cards: Whats your favorite thing about being a part of our family? Whats a moment when our familys support made a significant impact in your life? Examples from Deeper Meanings cards: What does it mean to live a meaningful life? Is it ethical to prioritize self-care and personal happiness over family obligations? I think there are enough questions available on the cards that most families and groups could find questions they are comfortable enough answering. If family members are willing to share, I think this deck could lead to some amazing conversations, new understanding, and stronger connections. Good value for the huge number of questions available. Recommended.

The cards are well made, and I found the questions to be much better than a lot of other conversation starters. The one thing I take issue with is that the marketing is geared towards families with younger kids: The drawing on the box is two parents with a young child, most of the marketing photos include young children, the description on the top of the page infers it is for all ages, etc. But the back of the box says "14 and up". If you scroll down to the bottom of the listing where the package size and UPC # are, you will find in small print that "manufacturer recommends for 14 and up". That recommendation is spot on, and it should be reflected in the product description and marketing. It really is best for families with teens. It's not that most of the questions are "inappropriate" for young children (though some are), it is mainly that a lot of the questions are so complex that younger children won't understand them or have enough life experience to answer them. Several of the "light hearted" category and a few of the "All about me" category could be shared with younger kids, but the vast majority of the set cannot be without causing frustration. We ended up putting this in the drawer and maybe we will get it back out in 5 years or so. For this incorrect (and somewhat deceptive) marketing, I deducted one star. However, if you are a family with teens then I would easily give it 5 stars. Actually, where this would REALLY shine would be at a family reunion or some other event with extended family and multiple generations. So all-in-all, a good product - you just need to be aware of the target audience!

You shouldnt expect to find any Would You Rather type questions here. What you will find is thought provoking questions that lead to some pretty deep answers and often turn into some very interesting and insightful conversations with the fam bam. We did these with my teenage twins and my 7 year old daughter while on a road trip and had some very meaningful discussions and learned things about one another we might never have known otherwise. Most of the questions were a bit too advanced for my 7 year old but she was content to give the answers she saw fit and eventually became bored with it. My teenagers, who initially werent that eager to participate surprisingly got into it and really opened up and shared their thoughts and opinions, their views and feelings which did my heart good. Communication is so important. It can make or break and the truth is communication often breaks down between teenagers and their parents, my family is no exception. Honestly doing this was sort of emotional in some aspects because as a mother you long for the bond you had with your kids when they were little and their world was younow as teenagers they have friends, school, hormones, mood swings, and often times no desire to hang out and shoot the breeze with bruh formerly known as mom mommy mama. This was a fantastic experience, an eye opener, a reminder, an opportunity and I would recommend this deck of Rethink! conversation starter cards over any of the other Ive seen to date. Its a fun way to pass the time, open up the lines of communication, strengthen the family bond. Very travel friendly, can be stored easily, and you make the rulestimed answers, or hours and hours of significant conversations, you set the pace. Im looking forward to our next family road trip and picking up where we left off in our Rethink! convo cards.
