Reaper Sling Blade Hot Sauce, 5oz...

It's hot, but not insanely so (sadly) but hot enligh to still earn you Pepper-Head streed-cred, and tasty! Some hot sauces go for all pain no gain- that is, no flavor. This done has both in spades. Honestly, this is, thus far, my favorite hot sauce. Will buy again.

I was a little scared buying this because of the Scoville Scale. I put a little dab on a turkey sandwich, took a bite, and thought, "Wow! That's really good!!!" I didn't douse my sandwich with it after that, but I did apply it liberally to the rest of my sandwich. It is hot, but not unbearably so. It has a nice, consistent heat to it. As someone else mentioned, it's not so hot that it renders your taste buds useless. I will definitely buy again. Update: 04/05/2023 I've owned it less than a month, and I'm already purchasing another bottle. (Actually, I'm purchasing two bottles.) That's how good I think it is!

It's pretty good hotsauce, and it will definitely give you a hit of heat, but me and some friends both agreed it wasn't made by demons or anything. It's just sort of hot for a while. There is a numbness that you get in your throat if you eat a lot of it, but I've had much hotter sauces that have told me they were lower in the scoville count. By contrast, Buffalo Wild Wing's blazin' hotwings rank at 837,000 scovilles and those were hotter than this. I've also had the liberty of trying Mad Dog 357 after I purchased this (which is rated at 357,000 scovilles) and that is much much hotter. We're talking sitting and saying you're fine, to a minute or two later where every exhale is just pain, and you see a fear in a person's eyes as if they may be losing their sanity and are having trouble with containment. When it gets this hot, it doesn't taste good. It's just pain. This sauce though, it honestly doesn't even taste good, I'd just use it as a stepping stone to hotter sauces.

Great tasting sauce. Never tried carolina reaper before but I am not a beginner to heat. I don't have a very high heat tolerance but it's definitely not low. For me I can eat habaneros and even a little ghost pepper without too much difficulty. I first tried this sauce by pouring a full size spoonful (about a tablespoon amount) with the sauce. It has a nice taste very smoky and slightly sweet. The smokiness is probably because of the bhut jolokia, which I am familiar with that flavor and it definitely tastes like that. Heat is not any worse than eating a fresh habanero. I was a little sad to find out it's not as hot as a fresh bhut jolokia or carolina reaper, but that doesn't mean I don't like the sauce. It tastes great and is hot, but not extremely hot. You will notice a tongue and throat burn, not the type of burn where you are downing a gallon of milk or need to eat ice cream but that may be because I have somewhat of a tolerance. If someone completely new to this tried it, it might be a little too much for them, but for people like me with a higher than average tolerance and can handle habaneros no problem it's not an overwhelming burn. Still don't want anyone to take this review the wrong way, it's a great sauce just not as hot as I would have expected. The burn is an all around good burn and lasts a good 5-10 minutes. I'll try putting this on my burritos or chicken wings and see how it goes

My husband LOVES hot sauces. He loves pushing his limits on what he can tolerate. And he loves getting other people to try them as well. I knew once he had me order Reaper Sling Blade Hot Sauce, that I would never hear the end of it until I tried it. And so, with much trepidation, I attempted what I can only describe as a walk through the flames of hell...tongue first. I had, quite literally, a drop of this stuff. And by "a drop", I mean it could have fit on the head of a pin. First, I'll say that the flavor was actually good. It's smoky and quite enjoyable...until the donkey kicks you in the tongue and all you can think about it putting out the fire. This hot sauce has Carolina Reaper peppers as the first ingredient and Bhut Jolokia (AKA: Ghost Chili) peppers as the second. This combination of the two gives you a nice slow build in intensity. Like Satan grabbing your hand and leading you level by level through hell. And so, with my tongue ablaze and feeling like it was stomped on by Optimus Prime, I began consuming a bowl of ice cream in an attempt to squelch the pain. A very large bowl, I might add. Not happy with the amount of calories, I consumed, but it's par for the course I suppose. About half an hour after I finished my ice cream, my tongue finally stopped hurting. Yikes. So, why did I give this product 5 stars? Because it really lived up to it's name and the description. I was given what I paid for. It arrived when I was told it would. The packaging (bottle label) is really cool-looking as well. As I said, the flavor was great, it's super spicy and has a great slow build. My husband loves it and is harassing everyone he knows trying to get them to taste it.
