Garbage overall - Complete, accurate, and fair review: Going off the pictures for this item, it looked decent. NOPE. It's Terrible. It's a bunch of pop out (fragile) plastic pieces in orange and blue - the planets are not recognizable from size, shape, color, or form.. it's a guessing game - NO identification on the very POOR instructions (if you can call them that). Snapping the plastic bits of the base together can easily result in the plastic breaking due to the pressure required and low quality. A glue gun was needed on several occasions. We pushed through and built the entire thing, gaining most pleasure from painting the plastic balls with our own paints while researching the color and properties of each planet. Time to put it all together: Stacking the levers onto the central post also has issues, as the upper most lever (Mercury) has nothing to secure it, so just flops around. Pressure from an adult is required to get the first few levers on there too. The projection comes from the central ball (Sun) and is a disk you snap in place and then rotate around to view a projection of each planet, and their name, individually (no stars or other illumination as might be assumed from photo). Turning the disk is also troublesome for half of it, as it sticks, and if you apply the pressure required to turn it, without first stabilizing the ball with your other hand, the entire structure will break. There is a single rotational speed for all planets, not a problem, just to be aware of. Once the planets are rotating, the projected planet image also rotates, and it's not to change the planet being viewed without manually stopping the rotation, then struggling with that disk thing. ALSO the wires from the battery to the motor remain on the exterior of the plastic casing - unlike the photo. There is no way to encase or protect them.. and one is a bright red. In the photo attached, EVERYTHING HAS BEEN GLUED AND PAINTED (including the exterior wires). Without hours of effort, this product wont look anything like that - and even if it does, wont work well! Should have taken a before & in progress pictures too. Had I bought this at the dollar store, I'd probably have still been annoyed at having wasted a dollar. That ought to speak to the value I assign to it, if that wasn't obvious from the headline!
