I rescued a medium sized dog, not knowing that he was going to shed so much, I'm guessing he's double coated? Had I known it was going to be so bad, it probably would have been a deal breaker for me and I'd have left him standing behind bars while he watched me adopt the little yapper in the next cell. I'm glad I didn't know, because he's the best boy around! This brush saved my sanity. The hair was blowing around the house like tumbleweeds in an old western movie. It was so gross. I couldn't believe how well it worked. It's easy to hold, though a bit heavy and clunky. I could go with the grain, and even swish it around, and back and forth to remove the hair. I always used it dry. Country dogs don't get many regular baths, outside of the creek so I don't know how well it works on wet fur yet. Anyway, there were 2 extra dogs hidden in that fur, and I could have made a couple of pillows with it, if I was so inclined. Now, I also have a Catahoula leopard dog with short slick hair, and it does nothing for her. I'm so glad I got this tool for my new dog, but I'm not looking forward to using it next year.
