SOME FACTS/DETAILS WITH COMMENTS: These ice packs come in a divided/pocketed plastic sheet, placed inside a zip top bag with Instructions and information printed on the outside. The ice packs are made of polyethylene and blue gel. The gel stays in gel form when frozen and does not freeze solid. Each Ice pack measures a little under 4 inches in diameter. I think the product photo shows 4 inches because it seems like if the plastic was not filled with gel, it may come out to be exactly 4 inches. The cloth covers arent really cloth, but a smooth, finely textured PVC or vinyl, perhaps. The blue piece of elastic on the back of them measures 1 inch x 4 inches. MY OPINION AND EXPERIENCE: After washing my ice packs and placing them in the freezer for a few hours, I took them out and they were all really cold, and flexible to a degree. They did not retain coldness for very long, and came to room temperature in under 20 minutes (without application to my body). I assume that when applying these ice packs to the body, they would warm up much faster. I think the time that they stay cold might vary depending on the temperature of the air around you and how warm you are, as well as how cold your freezer is. I like that two covers are included. I found it to be a bit tricky to get one of the ice packs to fit in the cover. The covers make the ice packs easier to hold, and I like that you can slip it on your arm. I dont think these will fit people with larger sized arms. People with smaller sized arms may only be able to wear them on the smaller half of the forearm. I find that the elastic is a bit scratchy if I put it too high up on my arm. It may be a better fit for a child. I would just make sure its not cutting off circulation. One of my covers had the hole for the ice pack off center a small amount. The other was perfect. FINAL THOUGHTS: These ice packs are small and do not stay cold long, so theyre great if you just want some coldness for a short amount of time, or for a small area. These would probably work best for fresh bruises or a swollen cheek from dental work, or perhaps a sprained finger or toe. Since there are five ice packs, you could rotate them in and out of the freezer if you need the cold for a longer time, but I would just prefer that they stay colder longer. The covers do come in handy.

Gel packs stay frozen and work great for that 15-20 minute ice pack need. On the swollen knee, or even just feeling overheated and place one on the neck or wrist. I wish the cover was a soft material instead of the vinyl. I have arthritis and carpal tunnel so I like to put an ice pack in and turn it inside out so the strap holds the ice pack on the back of my hand. I do have to put a paper towel or light cloth in between since the vinyl doesnt buffer the icey feel. All in all they are decent.

Great size for quick cooling relief in areas like your jaw or fingers. They stay soft and flexible, which is a plus for certain types of injuries and especially tender areas. Sometimes a frozen brick just doesnt feel good against a bruised area, no matter how light you try to keep it. In my experience, these do not stay cold longer than 20-25 minutes on an inflamed area. The general guideline is 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off, so Id probably order an additional bag or two ahead of any sort of oral surgery, for example, to rotate them throughout the day. The cover is like a pool raft, so if you wanted to use this on your eyes under an eye mask (I tried this and it works pretty well), you'd probably want to find an alternative way to protect your skin.

These are great for boo-boos or any facial procedure/beauty treatments that need to have ice (or heat) applied. These are the kind of gel that freeze super cold, but stay very flexible and gel-like, not hard or slushy. The hand holder works nicely too, but can be a little tricky to get the gel pack squeezed through the tiny hole. It seems like all of the time you're trying to get it to fit through the hole, you've touched it a lot and cooled down the temperature of the ice packs. It would have been nice if there was an easier way to get the holder open to put the gel pack inside, but still remain it's smooth softness of the holder (who wants to feel velcro corners on your boo-boo?!). Even if you don't use the hand holder which I do like, the gel packs are still very nice to use.

Used these after facial surgery. They were perfect size and flexible.
