This game is super cute and fun to play. I don't want to explain it too much to spoil it.

A fun game that is like a game of "spoons" with a twist. The cards are visually fun, the instructions are easy to learn. The whole family enjoyed the game. We liked the fast-paced rounds with multiple times to learn how to win and not become extinct. (The game is rated 7+ and we think that is about accurate.)

This is a simple, fast-paced game. It is somewhat active - it requires pretty much constant attention from the players, and each round ends with a chaotic scramble to grab a dinosaur token (of which there's always one too few for everyone to succeed). At the same time might get a little testy if taken too seriously. (We found our youngest players had some difficulty maintaining their temper if they felt their hand had been slapped aside by someone else grabbing for the same dinosaur token as them. Also, I... may have a family member wishing me harm after a particularly good fake-out the other night.) As few as 3 can play, but the game seems more interesting with more players. However, everyone needs to be able to reach the dinosaur tokens with roughly the same ease, so seating arrangements for an 8-player game might be a little challenging. The deck includes 11 sets of 5 matching cards, up to 8 of which will be used in a game (one set per player). Each set is functionally equivalent in the mechanics of the game (you're just trying to match a full set), so young players may enjoy choosing which sets to use. Overall I would recommend this game for game nights of any sort where players will want to be fully engaged with a game for a time; but if you have young players (or players who are just overly-sensitive in competition), it may be wise to have a backup game to switch to.

If you've ever played spoons, then you will be familiar with this game play. You need at least 3 people in order to play, and anything more than 8 is just too many. I found that this version was easier for my 8 year old twins than regular spoons so I'm really happy we bought it. They had a really good time playing it. My son tried really hard to perfect his "fake out." The game specifically says that pretending to grab a dinosaur in order to trick other people into grabbing one is totally legal. I also taught them how to grab a dinosaur very discreetly so everyone just continues to play, not realizing you've taken one. We have played A LOT of rounds of Save the Dinosaurs. I don't have any complaints about this game. The dino pieces are a good size. The scorecards are a really nice touch. The illustrations on the dinosaur cards are really cute and creative. It's easy enough for my 5 year old to understand, and yet still fun for the adults to play. Total win for our house. I'd definitely recommend it.
