This is made from the softest silicone material and folds away nicely so that you can store it well. I got this and adore the light blue color and all of the little cups to put paint and a little area to clean off your paint brushes as well. This would work for either water color or using acrylic paint, and it is extremely easy to wash off and looks brand new again. I just love the sleek design and how simple but useful it is.

Excellent mat for varied uses

I race 1/32 scale slot cars and at my club, I work at a station with a plywood surface. While this is perfectly fine, the little pieces from these cars like to bounce off the plywood and keeping things organized when disassembling a car can be a bit tricky with things scattered all over the plywood surface. When I saw this silicone mat on my feed with its little cups for paints and such, I knew I'd found exactly what I needed for my slot car workstation. The cups used for paints hold any number of tiny screws and parts and keep them organized. When I'm doing decals for the body, I can put water in the heart-shaped cup. And things don't tend to bounce and roll on the silicone surface. Plus, the single color of the surface makes it easy to spot all your parts as you're working on the cars. Yes, I get a little flak from the other guys for the heart-shaped cup, but I don't care since I'm not rooting around on the ground after accidentally brushing a tiny M6 allen screw off the plywood surface because my screws are all held safely in the paint cups. I love this mat and I would say it can be used for any number of other types of crafts - not just the painting shown on the order page. And at just under $15 at the time of this writing, it is definitely worth the cost. It did take a few weeks to completely flatten out. If I'd taken it outside and set it in the sun on a flat surface, it would likely have smoothed-out much more quickly, but I just left it unfurled on my worktop and the folds put into it by being packed into a small package eventually went away, but note that our workshop does get rather toasty on days we're not there, so the heat likely helped with the flattening of the mat.
