Hard to light anything

This thing is really cool. I've never seen a lighter like this. Some people might consider it to be a little bulky, but I would describe it as about the size of a Zippo lighter with a hard protective case wrapped around it. I don't think it's excessively big. As soon as you open up the lid, the LED lights go on to display the battery strength, and they're actually very bright. Brighter than they need to be. When you push the button to cause ignition, it surprising how little the "flame" is. As small as it is, as soon as you get a cigar or something near it, it does what it's supposed to do. The case is really nice, and sturdy. I have not dropped it yet, and I hope I won't, but It's bound to happen, and I just hope it holds up. So far, I really like this thing and hope it works as well as I think it will. If anything changes, I will update this review, but for now, 5 stars.

If you're not familiar with arclighters, they do not really generate a flame but instead a plasma stream between exposed electrodes. The nice thing about this is that they do not blow out and run off of batteries instead of liquid fuel. However, the area of ignition is small so when lighting things, your hand is close to what burns. I suggest lighting a small item like paper before you light the main fire. This lighter is no different however it is nice that it has a clear case so that you can see the electronics inside. There are four LEDs on the side that will indicate charge level and they're just fun to look at. When you open the case, the lighter turns on and indicates charge level. When you close the case it also turns off the lighter as well. The plasma is activated by a button on the side of the top and all of this is inside the waterproof clear housing. Also on the top is the USBC charging port. With the top closed, the whole thing is pretty much waterproof. In my experience, these tend to hold a charge for about 6 to 9 months. These make great gifts and are good backups for camping and in your car since they do not require fuel. They can be recharged when out in a few hours. I think of all the ones that I have seen, this lighter seems to be built well, is fun to use, and gives you a charge level. For the price you really can't beat this offering.

This is really a great item - it works every time, and the transparent case makes it look futuristic. It is also very practical - the battery charge seems to last forever, and in emergencies most people have backup power for their cellphones which will work for recharging this also. I plan to take it with me on hikes and on the boat "just in case". And speaking of case, the case totally seals the lighter and the power plug from water damage. Just a reminder - this type of lighter is flameless; there is a plasma arc between wires where the item you want to burn needs to be placed. Cigarettes, paper, a taper candle the FIRST time it is lit - all will work fine, but you cannot light a gas burner, gas grill, or partially burned candle where the wick is short and in a recess. If you want one for that purpose, you need to get one of the long thin types of plasma lighters.

I have never heard of rechargeable lighters before. How cool that it doesnt use fuel. You just plug it into a regular socket, and it charges up. The display gives you a visual on how much charge is remaining. There are so many uses for this! I can light my candles with this instead of the fuel lighters that keep running out of fuel and need to be replaced. Less cost, and less waste! My Uncle can light his cigarettes, my husband can use this out camping, and my prepper daughter can load this in her bugout bag. My grandson uses it to light his grill and would like another one for his fishing tacklebox. These are great stocking stuffers, or as the perfect gift. They come in a plastic case that can be sealed to be waterproof. They are about the size of a regular lighter and would fit in your shirt or coat pocket. It comes with a lanyard if you would rather carry it around your neck. There is no fuel in it, so you should be able to pass TSA with it when you fly. The lighter comes in a variety of vibrant colors. I really think that this is a cool gift, and I hope you give it a try.
