Once in a while, I like to fine-tune my modalities of learning in preparation for activities. In the heat of summer, I decided to tune up my kinesthetic and visual perception skills since, in a new place with a colder winter, I would move back into art and painting. You have to build up skills, and a 3D puzzle remains an enjoyable way to do that. Colorful pieces all over the place have to be attached in a sequence to make the intended and suggested item, and in this case, it is a toucan. Hands-on bird physiology of the relationships of head to chest to wings. Proportional perspectives of how large eyes are and how long that beak and tail are. What point is something cartoonish, surreal, or realistic? The model has all three aspects. You get a box with colored things and a letter with information. A tweeter that mimics the bird sounds. The mathematics of a sphere comes into play as you take a plane, insert it, and create a global-like body with compartments. Touchy and feely with visual pieces in parts that, as it develops, come together as a whole. Up close, you see the geometric parts, but back off, and it becomes the toucan. It mimics a living bird in your hand once you put the tweeter in. You have more to do with it, and it tweets at you as you insert more stuff. I have my toucan, skill set, and bird feeders, and soon, flocks of migrating birds will arrive to sketch or paint. Enjoyable activity.

This toucan puzzle is a fun, unique puzzle for kids to put together. My 8-year-old nephew was so proud that he assembled this on his own and didn't need any help. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The colors are vibrant and colorful. The bird sound is huge hit in the house with the kids - and the cats, lol! The most difficult part about this puzzle is having the patience to carefully remove the pieces from the sheets. Make sure you show your little one how to carefully press on the edges with their fingers or a piece could accidentally get torn or damaged. The toucan is surprisingly cute and more durable than I expected once it is assembled. It doesn't take long to put together, but it is a lot of fun while it lasts!

These are fun projects. I bought the snowy owl and the praying mantis. The eight year old granddaughter was able to put most of the owl together by herself. It looked great when finished and she really liked it. The praying mantis was very difficult to put together. The pieces are small and the connecting hinges are very small. This project required an adult doing most of the work. It did look great when finished though. The pieces are well made and durable. I would purchase one of the animals with larger pieces.

I got this for my son and he loved it. Within minutes of opening it he was putting it together. Great Gift...will buy more!
