My teen son and I had fun putting this together! He did the majority of the work, but I helped to punch out some of the parts in the beginning. The kit itself is well designed and simply packaged with relatively easy to follow instructions and images (only a couple of times did he have to backtrack a step to reattach a piece hed attached incorrectly). The cardboard is thick enough to work with in terms of being able to punch out individual pieces and bend into place. One tip Id give is to place the full cardboard sheet on a thin carpet or softer service and then gently, but firmly push pieces down around the perforated edges from the top. There are some very thin slot cutouts that you want to be careful with when pushing pieces out of the cardboard. We didnt have any issues with any of the pieces ripping or creasing in areas where they shouldnt, but its nice to see that the kit did come with several pieces available as spares-just in case. You can move the wings in and out as well as turn the head for a different look. The outcome is a VERY COOL, jointed, movable snowy owl that can be displayed.

We bought this for our eight year old granddaughter. She was able to put most of it together by herself. It looked cool when it was finished and she loved it. It is made of durable material. The wings and head are hinged to be movable. I would purchase one of the bigger animals again. I also bought the praying mantis. The pieces were way too small and delicate for her to put together. My husband actually did the work. It did look cool when finished.

My 8 yo wasn't interested unfortunately but my husband and I had fun building it. Very well made with quality materials. Would make an excellent gift.

This 3-D snow owl is very cool gift for a craft loving person. Good for young teen and upwards for sure. It's essentially card board piece punch outs that can be assembled to some basic instructions. I would say to be careful with some of the punch-out pieces, just meaning don't try and force as some have some narrow pieces you want to be careful with. Assembly can be a bit challenging, some thought as to the instructions are written is required, but doable for sure, made it slightly more interesting to me. The wing and head can be moved post assembly, but do note that overall this isn't a super sturdy final piece, but that's entirely to be expected here, but just making a note that I had some pieces that just didn't want to stay and slowly fall away. The effort alone is fun and worth this low price for sure, will give a good chunk of fun crafting and building.

The MAKEBUG 3-D Snowy Owl is a great interactive activity for a large range of ages and abilities. It is fun to assemble alone, but will also make a nice cooperative activity for a caregiver and child. The pieces come pre-punched on thick paperboard sheets. The print quality is great, and the pieces pop out easily from the paperboard. I did not have any difficulties with tearing or bending when removing the pieces. The included step-by-step instructions are easy to follow while constructing the figure. The individual pieces interlink with slots and tabs and fit together well. Depending on skill level, some younger children may need a little more assistance when assembling to make sure no pieces are bent and to help follow the order of assembly. When finished, this project results in a nice, free standing figure that can be displayed or gently played with. A wonderful bonus is that the figures have the ability to be moved and posed.
