I have a little collection of these speak and spell figures that I use in my preschool with my emergent readers. This one is good but needs improvement. It comes with 384 cards which are divided into different categories. The speech and pronunciation on this little device are clear, and the buttons to operate volume and turn it on and off or easy to use. However, when you insert your card it goes in upside down, when you turn the device to read the card, Sponge Bobs eyes are on the bottom. This wasn't a deal breaker for me, but the kids kept turning it, so his eyes were up. They were also disappointed that it didn't sound like Sponge Bob. But is well made, looks good and very durable.

Do what we can to help our non verbal child with speech. This is really cool and works well. There isn't a volume button for which I think it needs if you are using a noise environment. The cards are my only complaint because they are not durable. Thought about laminating them but not sure if the thickness would render the cards useless. Just something to consider if you have a child who is rough with their toys, etc. I would still recommend regardless.
