So I have had this for a couple of months now and tried to learn how to use it but I still cant get it to work the way its intended to. I cant get the tape most of the time! I will keeo trying but so far not impressed!

I hate when I can't get the end to pull up in one piece. This works great! I wish it had a hanging option to attach it to the tape roll. I worry about losing it. I will likely risk cracking it so I can drill a hole to attach it to the roll.

Purchased as a gift, so I cant comment on use. But it arrived as advertised

I often use a shipping-tape dispenser that use the large rolls of transparent tape. One of the most maddening things that sometimes happen, is the tape roll backing-up. This usually results in the tape adhering to itself and the edge gets lost. If you're lucky enough to be a younger person, with good eyesight and dexterity, this is only a minor issue. As an older gent, it is frustrating and a real time suck trying to find the edge of the tape to re-spool it on the dispenser. So when I happened across this device, in the Vine program, I had to give it a try. It's a simple looking device that's made of plastic. It has a scraper-edge, and a tiny, pin-like probe (see pic) in the bottom to catch/detect the edge. It works, I believe, in the same way the old "Operation" game does. When the pin runs across the edge of the tape, the pin gets pushed into the metal contacts surrounding it, and turns on the light. It really is genius and simple. What isn't simple is using it. By that, I mean, it takes a little finesse to hold the tool properly for the pin to work. It took me a few tries in my test of the detector, but once I got to holding it down properly, it works nicely. This is a neat little device to stash away in your tool drawer for when the need arises. You may not use it often, but it sure is nice to have when you do need to find your edge again. It seems whenever I use the larger venues of any tape, whether it is packaging, masking, etc? I seem to somehow lose the ability to properly secure before the joined piece attaches to the roll. Then the exasperation in attempting to locate and start again? Let's just say my tiny one heard a word she occasionally delights in using, much to my horror, all due to the battle of the tape. Lol. Shame on me, I know. So of course when I noticed this finder? Although skeptical, I ordered. Very to point? IT WORKS! Yea! Simply place on the roll and apply a smidge of pressure, just skim along until it "bumps" on the tape's last detectable potion files up. And there you go! I can't believe no one has marketed this before now, and possibly they have. I have never seen prior, so this is my only reference. And did I mention? It WORKS! Finally, something that does what it is supposed to quickly, simply, and practically. Okay, there is some nonsense written on the information sheet about a sensor, a light? And so on... I never saw any light from a sensor, and honestly? It matters not to me as if there is. It doesn't show and it does nothing to take away from the efficacy of this scraper. I do not care, not even a little. I DO care that this does keep me from anger & wasted energy in attempts to locate the tape line that I never would have had if I had obtained it before now. I have it, it's fabulous, and I highly recommend this scraper to anyone that has ever experienced the aggression & frustration a roll of reattached tape has caused. This is the solution! Lack of sensor light and all! The price allows more than a single purchase if you like. I am seriously thinking of ordering one for each drawer I keep tape in. It DOES look like something the tiny one might take and incorporate into her little toolbox, so I don't want to become all stressed out attempting to find it. So economically speaking, I think it is very affordable. And I Don't have any fear of it causing harm if the tiny one does snatch. It is not as sharp as it is useful. So no, not a danger concern if removed, only frustration in relocating! I better go do that ordering now, before everyone discovers it and I am unable to! Enjoy!
