Destructive

I have used ultrasonics in my business for over 30 years as a jeweler. When I saw this I thought "How Cool" and ordered one. First of all this is not an ultrasonic. I wont get into the science of wave frequency but its just NOT!! Second I'm not sure what it did but the unit got so hot it melted my contacts after the cleaning cycle button was pushed and I was in the shower. It literally melted them and boiled the lens solution away within 3 to 4 minutes. This unit was returned and in my opinion it is destructive dangerous at best and a fire hazard at worst. I would not purchase it again!

Easy to use; works great!

I started wearing gas permeable lenses after an absence of many years. They seemed comfortable at first, but as the weeks wore on I found that my 'wear time' was dropping sharply. I suspected, despite my best efforts, that I was not getting them clean enough. When this ultrasonic cleaner arrived I used the 5 minute cycle (there is a 3 minute cycle as well) to give them a thorough cleaning and found I was back up to full wearing time. And that's after one cleaning cycle! This unit works great, and is easy to use and clean. I would highly recommend it to wearers of GP or soft reusable lenses.

Works well enough with a few recommendations

For starters I am probably the worst case scenario as I wear contacts for weeks at a time. To clean them I usually use contact lens cleaning drops (like a liquid soap) and rub for 20 seconds, rinse and they're pretty close to new. I was hoping this would do the work for me. I'll start by saying this is very gentle. I've run the unit with saline and 4 drops of that cleaner 5-10 times before getting them as clean as I can manually. This is much more safe though and definitely cleaner than my fingers. I wish it would run for 20 min so I don't have to keep restarting it but as I said, I'm the worst scenario. If you take your lenses out daily, this machine could easily keep them like new with just 2-3 uses a week. Negatives... The basket holds both contacts in the same area and while I haven't had an issue, I wish the L & R were partitioned. No biggie. If this had a built in rechargeable battery it would be even better. Only works off USB charger not included. Look for Bausch and Lomb contact lens cleaner to use with it.
