I love this ironing mat! So much better than my old portable ironing board.

I'm not a quilter, but I do like sewing clothing for myself. I find that moving my tabletop ironing board back and forth during a sewing project is tedious at best. This pad is smaller, but way easier to move out of the way when i need to, but often it can just sit there the whole time and doesn't really get in the way.

Great addition to my sewing table

I recently redid my sewing room. I hated having to drag out the big ironing board when I just needed to press a small seam. This wool mat is the perfect solution. I put a silicone pad under it to protect my tabletop, and I have a small ironing surface right beside my sewing machine. Great for small stuff

Wool is great for pressing and this mat has a nice thickness and nice size. It is great for piecing or anything small. It could also be used for touch ups. Not knowing just how it would deal with steam I used it on top of a silicone mat. The steam did go through which is actually what you want, but you may not want your counter to get wet so be aware of that. The underside did get fairly warm, but not hot. I have a couple of thinner mats made with the silver reflective cloth and this is far superior. (The weird picture is the silicone mat with the condensation on it.)

Great wool mat for quilting

A wool mat is a game-changer in quilting. I used to think they were just for people who were too lazy to get up and walk to the ironing board.- Ha! But a wool mat is more than just convenient. Unlike my slippery ironing board cover, the wool mat holds the little pieces of fabric still while you're pressing them. It also holds the heat longer so I get nice flat seams. When I use this with my wood clapper, I get seams that I'm downright proud of. It is convenient to keep near the sewing machine, but I actually keep mine on top of my ironing board because I prefer the height of the ironing board. But when I'm finished pressing pieces, I carry them back to the machine on the wool mat because it holds them in place without flying around. This mat is a good size- room to iron but doesn't take up a ton of space. I don't use steam and I haven't noticed much of an odor. I also haven't had my iron up to the hottest setting because I once had a wool mat melt onto the hot face of my iron- what a mess that was! I recommend this mat for any quilter, even if you don't mind walking to the ironing board. :)
