I really like this meter for checking all the plants that I had bought in May and June, preparing for a wedding reception in my yard. I had many color spots, and spent a lot of money on flowers and perennials. We have had exceptionally hot weather in my area, and the meter was so helpful and letting me know if Im over watering or if I need to water. It was a lifesaver!

The length of the probe lets one get moisture readings at deep levels where roots are. Been using it a couple of months No problems. Seems accurate. Follow directions. Some reviews say itsnot accurate when dipped in water but the directions say not to do that

The description has an accurate comparison of the long and regular probes, but I saw 15" and thought that was the length of the metal probe. When measuring moisture under mature trees that I'm trying to deep water, the extra length would have been welcome. This is fine for plants in flower beds and some shrubs.

Despite having a french drain installed along the lot line, and mortaring in concrete bricks to cover a brick ledge of open concrete block that had had soil backfilled over it (!) my foundation is still getting moisture from somewhere. I'm using this to confirm that a day after a rain, some of the soil is still damp where it should be dry. I need to draw a map grid and mark the locations that are damp/dry, but this is working great. Will probably have to extend the french drain (grrr, why couldn't they do it right the first time??) and possibly regrade some areas.

Purchased the 26 mm meter first; when it arrived, I realized it was too short. So I returned it and ordered the 40 mm version. This meter is excellent and gives a true reading of the moisture content of the plants and shrubs you have in your home and/or yard. I have two emerald arborvitae that started to lose leaves. I thought I was watering them correctly (they are newly planted in April of 2024). After getting the XLUX meter, I realized I was wrong and started to water the plants as needed. Now they are fine, and no more leave drop. We have 48 plants and shrubs in our yard, and I use the XLUX meter to check each one several times every week. I then water as needed. Well worth the price of $14.99. But, order the long one. It will allow you to read moisture level deep into the root ball.
